All the other herons in Regent's Park flew away from us, as herons do. This one had other ideas and was determined to get some bread, despite being attacked by the swans. Regent's Park, London.

There's no zoom on this - taken with mobile phone and not cropped.

This was held on March 24, 2010 at the VFS Cafe. Taken straight from the participants of DBN, we decided on this theme from a suggestion about friendly monsters that help old ladies cross the street.

Even as I stood on the sidewalk, this little guy kept walking toward me. He stopped at the edge of his sidewalk as if to survey the land before venturing out.

This is just one of our many friendly neighborhood squirrels. He or she was on her way to her peanut stash as the woman who owns the house where so many of the squirrels and crows congregate puts out little plates of food for them. I love that she does this. Dear sweet squirrely

or underengineered socket?

This Fokker D-VII replica has a toothy grin on the side of the fuselage. One can only assume that the German troops were delighted to see planes like this one as they flew overhead near the end of World War I.

The plane is an 80% scale kit from Airdrome Aeroplanes, in case you want to add one to your squadron. It was one of many replicas of WWI fighters at the 2018 Dawn Patrol Rendezvous hosted by the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio.
