This little fellow added some colour to the winter landscape in Ojibway Nature Preserve near Windsor, Ontario. I believe it's an American Tree Sparrow
This guy came into the backyard yesterday. I went out to make sure the deer could find it's way back over the fence. Instead he started following me around. Had to finally make enough noise for him to leave. Then hung out in the green belt, munching away for about 20 minutes. Before he left, I told him to watch out for the local Cougar.
I nearly forgot this photo of a young robin who kept us company while gardening in our park last summer, we were finding so many worms that he had a very good deal, no wonder he stayed close.
HFF!
I was going through old files and found shots taken on Franklin Island in Georgian Bay. The island is untouched Crown Land, with acres of beauty to explore. That beauty includes this Great Spangled Fritillary that completely ignored my camera shoved in its face. And that camera was my first digital one, a Canon A80 from 2003. It had a 4 MP sensor and a flippy screen! I had a lot of fun with that camera, and when it finally stopped working I moved to my first Nikon, the D90. That was passed on to a niece, but I'm not sure she'll ever use it. The little A80 might have stood a better chance!
A great wind swept over the beach, carrying away the smile...
But when the wind dropped people saw it had been only a little breeze friendly.......

This lovely horse greeted me as soon as I entered the park. Thanks so much for your support.🌟
This egret sat peacefully as I snapped photos and walked by his spot. It must be enjoying the relaxation of the beach.

Another photo of a pair of Tree Swallows engaged in friendly chatter. You should justzpose the sentiment here with the angry one in This Photo. I believe it was the same "conversation."
Thanks for Viewing.
We found this little guy and his brother and sisters in our woodpile. This is the 4th time we have had a feral or neighbor cat lay their kittens in our yard. Not sure what to do about this. They sure are cute though! HMBT & HSoS!

no big glittery icons or invitations , please !
When you come across a friendly dog, the owners are usually friendly too! In this case, both were enjoying a crisp winter's day. In our case, we took a break on the way home after having to drive an hour out of town to buy a roof rake to clear off some of the snow! The stores in our city were completely sold out.
The last mushrooms (I think) collected this year, this time only honey fungus :)
Honey fungus (Armillaria mellea), is a basidiomycete fungus in the genus Armillaria. It is a plant pathogen and part of a cryptic species complex of closely related and morphologically similar species. It causes Armillaria root rot in many plant species and produces mushrooms around the base of trees it has infected. Armillaria mellea is widely distributed in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. The fruit body or mushroom grows typically on hardwoods but may be found around and on other living and dead wood or in open areas. Armillaria mellea mushroom are considered good edibles, although some individuals have reported "allergic" reactions that result in stomach upsets. The mushrooms have a taste that has been described as slightly sweet and nutty, with a texture ranging from chewy to crunchy, depending on the method of preparation. Can also be pickled and roasted.

Wywołuje u zaatakowanych drzew chorobę o nazwie opieńkowa zgnilizna korzeni prowadzącą do obumarcia drzewa i powodującą białą zgniliznę drewna.

Out and about one day not far from home, yet in the higher elevations, we heard a distinct call "tschick-adee" repeatedly. About the same time, we saw some flighty movement getting closer and closer to us. Eventually, we encountered the quite adorable juniper titmouse. Interestingly, this titmouse species was differentiated from the Plain titmouse (into Juniper and Oak) reflecting their distict habitat where they reside. Though I had never seen one before (that I'm aware of), I just knew what it was by its cute crest on its head. It was quite curious about us and posed for some time for me. :-)
While I've been a bit envious of my friends still living in FL with their images recently being shared of SHC colt babies, roseate spoonbills, and easier access burrowing owls, I have to remind myself of species like this that call Colorado home. So darned cute as far as I'm concerned.
Thanks for stopping by to view. Happy weekend to all.

This was another encounter at the dump. While Bob was dumping bags of leaves, this little squirrel popped up and looked at me, in the van, while perched on some old homemade shelves.
part of a heavy wrought-iron gate in the urban gardens ... a beautiful piece of craftsmanship ... I am admiring it every time I am there (I might show you the other, bigger part of it sometime later)
Do you see a friendly face with moustache here, too ?
(I am sooo very prone to pareidolia ; ))
