While driving to work this morning this warning was lit up.
Don't know if it was left over from the other day or not. If you read on national news about a 30 car pile up on I-10 North of Tucson it was down this road.
One fatality and lot of injuries. Cars Trucks freway shutdown for hours.
There is nothing really between Phoenix and Tucson but desert. When the wind kicks up zero visibility.
The NE has whiteouts. We have Brown outs.

on sunday, april 29th, at 3:42am, a tanker truck carrying 8600 gallons of gasoline crashed and exploded, causing the collapse of the 580 freeway overpass onto I-880. the accident occurred in oakland bordering emeryville near the entrance of the bay bridge toll plaza.
the truck driver, mr mosqueda, was heading towards a gas station near the oakland airport when he lost control of his truck, colliding with the guard-rail and eventually flipping his truck. the explosion sent flames several hundred feet into the air. the heat from the flames quickly caused the melted steel girders and bolts that supported the concrete highway to collapse. the section of the 580 freeway came crashing down 30 feet onto interstate 880 below. on an average day both sections of the freeway are used by 160,000 vehicles.
damaged is estimated in the tens of millions and will take months to repair. fortunately, the driver of the truck survived with second degree burns. he hailed down a taxi cab and he was treated at a nearby hospital.
the accident occurred only a mile away from where i live. i heard helicopters, sirens and construction vehicles all morning long but i had no clue what had happened until i read the news. when i drove to the scene of the accident it was surreal to see the melted down section of the freeway. the concrete looked like a painting by dali.
There's probably razor wire over freeways in other places than Southern California, but I had never noticed it before. Presumably it's to prevent vandalism, such as graffiti on the signs. Too bad we have to do such things. Taken during a traffic jam -- I wasn't going very fast. There was a spot or two on the windshield. This is a freeway -- limited access, and no stop lights -- but not part of the US Interstate highway system.
I am told this was America's first freeway mural. I painted it in 1974 to honor my grandmother who lived in Hollywood. I chose actress Lillian Bronson as my model and we remained friends. She overlooked the Hollywood Freeway for 12 years and was suddenly destroyed. I am now painting her again, thanks to the Valley Institute of Visual Art (VIVA). A new front afghan was created by members of the Crochet Guild of Sacramento. The flying afghan streamer is being created by Peggy Baxter of Long Beach. The new mural will be on the west wall of the VIVA gallery at 13261 Moorpark at Fulton in Sherman Oaks . . . . Update: VIVA was prevented from putting the mural up and now it may possibly be painted on the campus of Valley College, visible to the public streets outside.

On the Western Highway between Melton and Bacchus Marsh. As of mid 2011 the bridge in the foreground has been replaced by the high level bridges on the new Anthony's Cutting Realignment in the background.
Up above is the I-5, the Golden State Freeway. Down below, the Metrolink and Amtrak route to the north.
One is moving at 60mph. One is moving rather more snowly. Maybe Metrolink should use this as an advert...

Wanted to see how well Photomatix would stop moving traffic. This is about a mile from my house in Pleasant Ridge, Michigan. Looking east.
I don't go this way very often, so this was probably my last chance to take a picture of this before they shut down the freeway and demolish the bridge.
Mango, FL- I-4 E Bound mileage sign east of CR 579. McIntosh Road is 3 miles,Lakeland is 23 miles, and Orlando is 73 miles.
I-395 (Southwest Freeway) northbound entering downtown DC. Up ahead, after I-395 leaves the Southwest Freeway, it turns to the north, passing through several tunnels before ending at US 50 (New York Avenue). Because they're fairly low clearance tunnels, DDOT has a lot of these height restriction signs.
