This is my good friend, Gabriel, modelling one of the found objects jewellery pieces that I made in Keith Lo Bue's classes over the weekend. This is made from a bit of concrete that I found which contains some small pebbles. I wrapped the focal bead with rebar-wire and whipped up a necklace (leather cording) for which to hang it from.

The Illiterate

Down by the station I found this “unaccompanied package” sitting on the platform; a small bag full of envelopes. A sign on the bag read, “Please don’t remove. Property of WSEC road rally.” Aha, a road rally! Road rallying is a sport where individual cars are sent off on a timed course on public streets where drivers gain points by 1) sticking to the route, and 2) keeping as close to the times required to get between points. The timing is set up to prevent drivers from speeding, and going too fast between points earns a penalty. Checking on the web I discovered that the WSEC is the Westmont Special Events Council, so apparently this was officially sanctioned by the good folks of Westmont. Pretty cool, but I do have to question the wisdom leaving the bag (which contained either instructions on how to get to the next point or proof that a point had been passed) on the platform. We’re constantly being warned to watch for stuff like this and then the village officially sanctions it!

I participated in a group show last night that was tattoo/burleque themed. These pasties were really fun to make and will definitely be showing up throughout other pieces.
A rather otherwordly-looking character who sprang to life when I saw a display of shinguards in the sporting goods section of a Target store. I saw nothing but a long, eerie face and instantly purchased it to make it into a puppet head. His name is not only short for "shin guard", but is a play on the name of my favorite type of guitar, the Gibson SG.
Absolutely no loitering or sit. Also, please do not sleep while the table is in motion. For your safety, or course.
This cherub consists of an old soldering iron, a figurine's head, doll arms, plastic wings, watch parts and a sculpted body. 2011.
Wheels and pitchforks and sheepherders' monuments are designed into a most unique environment. Someday Tim hopes to build an entire "Log Town."
Turns out there's more than one reason for going to Roundup. Tim Anderson calls it his Little Mansion, and if you like rocks, you're going to like what Tim's Done with the place. It features not just rocks - which he's nailed to the wall - but wagon wheels, horseshoes, pitchforks, washing machines and other things that people throw away. Tim hauls all these found objects with his bike or tractor, and he uses them to decorate both his home and yard with a designer's measured eye. "I call that the Go-Mobile," he says, pointing out a free form metal assemblage that he readily admits "Don't go." His dream is to build a whole town this way, and perhaps find a wife who might help him accomplish his grand architectural scheme.
Membership DOES have it's privileges, eh? *S*
I've done several of these, all a bit different, but with the same theme. A framed cork assemblage I found and took out some of the corks, added the Last Supper sculpture, some grapes, scrabble letters, put it on a base, and tahh dahh! I may add a wine cork remover if I can find a cool one later on for on the top...we'll see.

Russel Neswick has been building his concrete reef for the past 15 years. He uses garbage, concrete, and found objects to create sea creatures that exist in the ocean and in his imagination. The most amazing aspect of his art is that he isn't trained, its just something he started after he retired from being a lawyer. He doesn't know how many statues hes made over the years, but his reef is over two acres and even though hes 83 years old he goes though 300 lbs of concrete a week!
