Thanks for all the comments the other day. I will try this out on some rings.
An assemblage shrine using photos and items from my father-in-law's things - he served with the Marines in Iwo Jima - the photos are a horrible reminder of the sacrifices of war, on all sides.
This is a work in progress on 12x12 wood panel. The winter art show at the Duxbury Art Association theme is "Found Object Art"....right up my alley! I have the engineer helping to attach the gears and such.
So far this is book pages, acrylic paint, and pencil.

This work represents a triumph for me. It was the first attempt at brazing stainless steel. I was successfull and I did not use silver bearing alloys either! The real secret is you need a flux with fluoride and you need to stick to stainless alloys 304 and 316. These are the easiest to find anyway so its a win/win. The rods here are made of 304 stainless steel and this alloy is well known for its weldability due to the fact it is less likely to form brittle chromium carbides and the braze joint than other stainless alloys.
