So this photo and its counterpart above have a bit of meaning to me. If I was to get all symbolic I'd say that this sums up my move to Brisbane 8 years ago quite well, not only is it looking north to the capital but there is a long and winding road waiting ahead for me to find my feet in such a different busy world.

On the other hand it could be just a random panorama I took of a farm with some beautiful mountains, a country road and a pretty winters sunset last weekend :)

Face Forward by Mikey Sklar

Chistian Ristow and his crew from Taos stopped by with his Face Forward sculpture. Christian and his partner Christina moved to NM at nearly the same time as we did. We only get to see them on rare occasions as they live on the other side of the state. Lucky for is we have managed to bump into them three times this year due to Maker Faires and the El Paso art event they are in route too.

In early 2013 I posted my last image here. Fast forward nearly three years and much has changed.

I finished college, no longer live in California, I no longer drive buses, and I’m now the owner of a small transportation firm in Washington state.

Consequently that leaves me very little time to do what I love most; photography.

However, the biggest change isn’t all of those things. Its my Flickr page. In Summer 2013 I opened and started a new Flickr page to

reflect and celebrate the new chapters in my life.

Its now 2016 and something told me to check this account one last time. I’m glad I did. I love the messages of support and worry that I’ve left the

hobby and the community; and I thank you for them! I’m happy to tell you that I have not left, I’m still here! While things have changed for me, my passion for photography has not.

Investigating the adaptation of gymnastics techniques and folkloric elements, the artists unfold narratives on Selim Sırrı Tarcan, the founder of physical education and the Olympics Committee in Turkey, as well as on the accomplishments of his daughters. Inspired by their life stories, the individual and collective works in Forward, March! explore the intertwined relationship between physical education and the emancipation of women in Turkey.

My one word for 2013 will be "forward". For 2012 I had "do" and "do" I did. I started a lot of new projects, I dove head first into things I wouldn't normally try. I found some things I liked, some things I hated, some things I wish I could do differently. So with all that knowledge, I would like to move forward. Take on the things I started that I liked or want to do differently and keep moving with them. I'd like keep up with my photo blog. I will finish this 365. I will have a showing. I will deepen the connections I have made. I will move forward from this spot.
