In November 2007 ADIF, the Spanish railway infrastructure administration awarded a joint venture of Acciona (75%) and Obras Subterraneas (25%) the
EUR 113.8 million contract to build the 4.7 km section between Aranjuez and Ontigola. This includes the El Regajal Tunnel.

primary secondary lining at
El Ragajel
The total tunnel length in 2,437 m, of which 2,080 m is the excavated tunnel with two cut and cover tunnels measuring 23 m and 224 m at the north east and south east ends respectively. The tunnel will be suitable for a double track.
The difficult and complex ground conditions comprise of clays with high salt
contents that can easily dissolve with low cover at the portals. Ground support
consists of steel sets together with 300 mm of BarChip reinforced shotcrete. Over 10,000 m3 of BarChip reinforced shotcrete will be used for primary ground
support, batched from a specially installed on site batching plant.
In excess of 120,000 m3 of BarChip reinforced concrete will be used for the secondary lining which will be up to 1.0 m in thickness. The concrete will be placed in situ using a 12 m travelling formwork. BarChip is being used to reinforce the secondary lining to enhance its resistance to the harsh ground
conditions over the life of the tunnel. BarChip fibre will not only impart excellent impact and abrasion resistance but it will help reduce any crack propagation.
Formwork elements from the company PERI are being used as a design element for the 2019 Ars Electronica Festival exhibition space POSTCITY.

(13) The last layer of the mold has been poured. Previous layer exposing feet has been waxed for release, a new batch of plaster mixed up and poured. It will be no great tragedy if this second layer bonds by mistake to the earlier one, since many molds don't bother with the separation anyway.
