I was testing three things here:
My newly-acquired 80mm f/1.9 lens. That's right all your Contax 645 owners, with your fancier-than-thou f/2 lenses…mine goes down to 1.9! That makes my images at least 0.1 better than yours. Anyway, testing the lens as its manual focus, and I wanted to make sure my focusing screen was accurate. Yes!
Also testing a LED video light I bought off ebay. Works great! Gotta be in close though. Also it helps if you…
Testing more underexposure with the new Kodak Portra 400. In this case, underexposing 2 stops, which in effect is the same as shooting it at ISO 1600. I didn't have the lab push the film, and I scanned it at home. Contrast goes up considerably, and the background drops too…I guess that's the shadow detail being lost.

As the girls were exiting a Beauty Pageant's training session, I asked them to enter the hotel's swimming pool to record some video of them.
While I was finishing the video part, all the other photographers had been hastily called, and walked in desperate into the pool area.
I was carrying a late 1930's Rolleiflex with some Agfa expired film, and they all had the latest Nikons, Canons, etc.
I told the girls to form a line, on the side of the pool, and as I was going to take the photo, all the other photographers ran to the opposite side of the pool, and kept on screaming for the girls to look their way.
I hand signaled the first girl, to keep looking at me, until I could take the shot.
This photo became a poster and a centerfold.
And a lot of photographers got caught sleeping that day, by an old Rolleiflex.

In whatever esteem on might hold Princess Leigh-Cheri's thoughts, one must agree
that the last quarter of the twentieth century was a severe period for lovers.
It was a time a time when romantic relationships took on the character of ice in spring,
stranding many little children on jagged and inhospitable floes.
Nobody quite knew what to make of the moon anymore.
Consider a certain night in August.
The moon was so bloated it was about to tip over.
For more than an hour, Leigh-Cheri stared into the sky.
"Does the moon have a purpose?" She inquired.
The same query put to the Remington SL3 elicited this response:
Albert Camus wrote that the only serious question
is whether to kill yourself or not.
Tom Robbins wrote that the only serious question
is whether time has a beginning and an end.
Camus clearly got up on the wrong side of bed,
and Robbins must have forgotten to set the alarm.
There is only one serious question. And that is:
Who knows how to make love stay?
Answer me that and I will tell you whether or not to kill yourself.
Answer me that and I will ease your mind about the beginning and end of time,
Answer me that and I will reveal to you the purpose of the moon.
