A vagrant Fork-tailed Flycatcher (Tyrannus savana) was a huge surprise on our recent central Chile trip! There are only a handful of records from the north of the country. Photo by Andrew Whittaker.

Most of the day the peak was in clouds, but cleared up as I was going out. I came out here to watch for possible avalanches but saw nothing over a 15 minute period and couldn't see evidence that other slides had come down.

Fork render created in solidworks 2013

I think Jim modified the fork with a rotary tool to create this notch. The notch is designed to hold the rear axle of the bike, which it grips from just inside the left rear dropout (see the next picture).

This holds the bike securely and offers significantly more control than holding by the rear wheel, while allowing the pole to be shorter and lighter.
