Forge Travel of Maesteg began operating Service 202 (Port Talbot-Neath Port Talbot Hospital-Baglan-Briton Ferry-Neath) under contract to Neath Port Talbot CC in September 2023, after it was deregistered as a commercial service by South Wales Transport two months previously.
The initial vehicle allocated was a 54-plate 'classic shape' Transbus Enviro300, which was subsequently replaced by a former Metrobus 10m Scania OmniCity, both of which I've illustrated.
The third regular vehicle to appear is 12m Scania OmniCity MIG 8168. She was also new to Metrobus, in dual-door configuration, as YT09 BKK and passed to Halton Transport in 2014, where she lost her centre door and gained her current registration. She came to South Wales when Halton ceased trading in 2020 in a batch purchased by Cymru Coaches, though few were used. Forge acquired her with two others in August 2023.
This April 2024 shot was taken in Neath as she was turning from Windsor Road into Alfred Street with a good load.

Our Fall trip into the Adirondacks. The Old Forge Hardware is a combination hardware and general store.
Its total gridlock on the roads at Albert Hill in Darlington as a Transpennine train speeds past on its way fro Newcastle to the North West. The imposing building in the background is Darlington Forge, very much a part of Darlingtons heavy engineering past but which ceased production in 1970. Fortunately the main building has remained standing.

Valley Forge was the site of the winter encampment of the Continental Army in 1777-78.
An inscription on the inside of the arch reads:
"And here in this place of sacrafice and in this vale of humiliation, in this valley of the shadow of that death out of which the life of America rose, regenerate and free, let us believe with an abiding faith that to them union will seem as dear and liberty as sweet and progress as glorious as they were to our fathers and are to you and me. And that the institutions that have made us happy, preserved by our children shall bless the remotest generation of the time to come."

Made a visit to my friend Rob Sigafoos at his Vinewoods Forge. I took my grandson Isaac because he is an artist and I knew he'd dig seeing other creative efforts.

Here's a shot of my good friend grinding down his forged steel. At this point, it is still in the early stages but will eventually develop a beautiful shine and edge.

40 hours later, The Forge is finally finished! So, what is The Forge? The Forge is a mobile asteroid mining and processing facility. It uses six tugs to collect asteroids and bring them to one of the six mining platforms near the front of the ship. The asteroids are then put through grinding drums that break them into smaller pieces. Next, any desired ore, minerals, etc. are removed from the fragments and the waste is jettisoned from the ship. The ore, minerals, etc. are sorted into seperate containers. Eight huge reinforced plates protect the shipping containers from rogue asteroids and open to allow a transport to collect them.
The two bridges share the workload of the ship. The rear bridge is in charge of piloting, navigation and shipping. The forward bridge handles the mining and processing operations.
Alright, time for some tech specs!
The forge measures in at a whopping 156 studs in length (The biggest SHIP I've ever built). She's 62 studs at the widest (26 at the thinnest) and 38 studs tall. I did have two big landing gears built into it but it got WAY too heavy for them, thus the stand. It also has motor-driven grinding drums in the mining platforms and the big grey button in the middle of the ship opens and closes the armored plates. The plates where also supposed to be motor-driven but I could get them working for the life of me. Oh well!

The Old Forge Garage still exists in the present day but petrol sales ended a long time ago, some time before the first Streetview shot was taken in December 2008. In the present day the entire site including all the buildings has been painted yellow, which to my mind isn't a great idea! I was really surprised to find I hadn't ever taken a photo of this site, so no photo of how it looks now, may have to put that right later this year! Here it is Butler branded, earlier it had been a Little David site. Here's that hideous yellow paint job on Streetview!
