While soaring over Critter Ridge in Hocking County, Ohio, I spotted a beautiful scene that I had to share with you. On the left, a lush Eastern Redbud stood proudly, its heart-shaped green leaves creating a dense canopy. The sunlight filtered through the foliage, casting dappled shadows on the ground below. The vibrant green leaves were a testament to the tree’s health and vitality, adding a touch of freshness to the landscape.
To the right, a striking Red Maple displayed its deep crimson leaves, providing a stark contrast to the green of the Redbud. The maple’s leaves, with their classic lobed shape, shimmered in the sunlight, creating a fiery display that was both captivating and serene. While gliding over the enchanting Critter Ridge, I stumbled upon a scene that beckoned to be captured. This serene spot in the Hocking Hills Region is a testament to nature’s artistry. A piece of wood, weathered and worn, juts out from the water, resembling the head and neck of a vigilant alligator. The illusion is so striking that it might make you do a double-take. The surrounding greenery, lush and vibrant, frames this natural sculpture, adding depth and contrast to the scene.
The water, calm and reflective, flows gently over three distinct layers, each separated by small rock ledges about six inches tall. These ledges create a cascading effect, adding a dynamic element to the tranquil setting. The water glistens under the dappled sunlight, mirroring the sky and the foliage, creating a perfect blend of blues and greens.
