The Forest of Paphos, a few minutes walk from home.

The cool breeze in the evenings makes walking here a most pleasurable experience.

On a few rare occasions I spotted wild mufflon here (mufflon is the shy goat like symbol of Cyprus that is only found in this forest).

A little further, in a secret location known to only a few we pick in the summer the most scented oregano. It keeps for years but we replenish it every summer so we don't run out.

This was taken at Titlow Park in Tacoma WA. during a golden sunset.

Wohl bin ich ein Wald und eine Nacht dunkler Bäume: doch wer sich vor meinem Dunkel nicht scheut, der findet auch Rosenhänge unter meine Zypressen.

New Forest National Park, Hampshire

This forest is actually growing on top of dunes near the ocean. In this spot, all the green is simply moss covering the dune. It always feel very magical to walk through here.

...again because I have no time to check my other photos .-)

The Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona, Campigna is a national park in Italy. Created in 1993, it covers an area of about 368 square kilometres (142 sq mi), on the two sides of the Apennine watershed between Romagna and Tuscany, and is divided between the provinces of Forlì Cesena, Arezzo and Florence.

It extends around the long ridge, descending steeply along the parallel valleys of the Romagna side and more gradually on the Tuscan side, which has gentler slopes, especially in the Casentino area, which slopes down gradually to the broad valley of the Arno.

A large part of the park is woodland. In the park are areas the mountain vegetation, all types of woodland of the lower sub-mountain belt vegetation. In the forest dominated by hornbeams, turkey oaks and sessile oaks, chestnut woods (especially in the Camaldoli area and at Castagno d’Andrea on the Florentine side). In rocky places there are some of remaining rare cork oaks . Flora inside park include over 1000 herbaceous species, of which 48 are trees and shrubs. The most valuable collection is to be found in the Mount Falco-Falterona massif.

I often take this back road through Warner Park in the morning for a beautiful calm start to my day.

The West Prong of the Little Pigeon River is composed of a series of cascades flowing down from the ridges of the Appalachian Mountains running through Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

All along the Newfound Gap Road you can find pull outs to stop and explore the river and take in the serenity that does not exist in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg.

Home to some of the nation's most beautiful old-growth forests, the Great Smoky Mountain National Park is not without some controversy, as mountain homesteaders, loggers, and miners were evicted from their lands to create the park. However, during the Great Depression, the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), Works Progress Administration (WPA), and other public entities employed people to make trails, build and improve infrastructure and make the National Park accessible to more people.
