A whimsical and human sized bronze statue of a "Frog Golfer" outside of art store in midtown Manhattan in New York City. I'm not sure if this piece is for sale, but I know I couldn't afford it!

Amtrak's Downeaster # 681 is seen eastbound at Fore River (Formerly CPF-197) in Portland, ME. Due to a power shortage, newly acquired GP38-3 # 740, was put into revenue service and is seen leading the way.

Just a few of the incredible windows to be found on Fore Street, Redruth.

At the end of the tin mining era Redruth was one of the richest mining towns in the world. How times change.

HWW!

With two classic GE four motor units for power, the diminutive Fore River Transportation Co. is a delightful little gem of a railroad and a throwback to 1990s New England Railroading.

At only 2 1/2 miles long the little pike manages to offer a few really nice photo angles and this is one of the best for sure.

Having begun their day pulling outbound cars from Twin Rivers, they then did a bit of switching to build their train to head down to the interchange with CSXT in Braintree yard. FRVT B23-7 101 blt Jul. 1979 as Conrail 1992) has pulled up to take a little break beside this historic structure which is one of the last surving buildings from the days when this was a major ship yard that constructed 92 naval vessels during its 90 year history including destroyers, battleships, aircraft carriers, submarines, as well as countless merchant ships. The track curving through the parking lot in the foreground is the north leg of the wye leading to the railroads shop as well as the loading silos of former customer and property owner Massachusetts Water Resources.

Fore River Railroad is the underlying owner of the 2 1/2 mile long railroad and holds the common carrier obligations for the line, but operation of it is contracted out. In the late 80s and through the 90s the line was operated by the Quincy Bay Terminal, an affiliate of New Hampshire's New England Southern, but in 2000 FRVT took over. FRVT is a Class III railroad owned by its largest customer, Twin Rivers Technology LLC, a manufacturer of industrial inorganic chemicals (rendering of glycerin, fatty acids). Twin Rivers purchased the former Proctor & Gamble soap plant in 1994 and in 2007 the company was purchased by FGV a Malaysian Global Agribusiness company that was originally and arm of the Malaysian government agency FELDA but was taken public in 2012.

Yet another winner! This time in the Irish Times "Sporting Moments" Photo Competition

Golf courses are for losers. Why not combine mountain hiking with golf? You won't get a better view in all of golfdom. There's a 500m cliff just in front of my brother here!

Possibly the biggest drive he's ever hit.

I should point out that the inspiration for this came from seeing Linn Heidi Stokkedal's and friends Norwegian version.

She has also set up a new group called, wait for it... Mountain Golf. So get inspired!! It's free and it's fun!!

How about another shot from my day out with the Fore River, one of the shortest and coolest little railroads in New England. Who doesn't love classic GE power and pseudo street running after all?!

Man I miss the sight and sound of these old GE B23-7s. They were once everywhere in New England back in my younger days but now the little Fore River is the last bastion.

FRR 102 (blt. in Jul 1978 as CR 1980) is doing some pseudo street running through the Quirk car dealership parking lot on the grounds of the old shipyard as they shove back headed down to work the big Twin Rivers plant that is this road's sole reason for existence.

If someone were to yell that at a railroad crossing, I suppose you'd have bigger issues to worry about...

Another early morning view across the Fore River from Quincy Point. To the right the USS Salem, a former US Navy heavy cruiser built at the Fore River Shipyard, once located on this site. Today the ship serves as a museum. To the left is the Fore River Bridge that runs between Quincy and Weymouth

I went golfing for the first time today. I had a good and patient teacher, this is him ready to tee off. This is definitely more challenging than mini golf. Although we had great fun today, im not sure this is my sport.

Stand on a ladder in front of your daughter practicing her chip shots. You have to time it right, but you can get the ball in focus for a quick snap. You can also get hit by several hundred balls while trying.

Depth of field is a challenge when shooting with a long lens and handheld, but I think giving each owl its individual focus worked out well.

Under the harsh light of truth, flaws may be hidden, but events of the past submit trace evidence which finds no shelter, and paves the way for those events yet to come.
