Unlike it's German "cousin", the American-made M172 in 6.8mm Remington SPC has customized multi-vision scope/fire control unit instead of a night vision scope/fire control unit with ballistic computer and has a integrated laser sight instead of a flashlight. Has the same stock of the M196.
I'm working on a project for class.
I've downloaded the tags from all of the pictures tagged with 'jaguar', and then wrote a program to plot them as a force-directed graph with C# and OpenGL.
Now I'm playing with clustering the tags based on link stress in the graph.
I didn't make it out to the 2015 US Air Force Heritage Flight at Davis-Monthan AFB, but I was able to snap these pics from my driveway.

Flying the Hump
During World War II, C-47s like this one flew over the Himalayas to supply Americans and Chinese fighting the Japanese. For three years, daily flights across the world's highest mountain range were the only way to deliver fuel and ammunition to Allied forces in China. Lighter than other transport planes, Skytrains could fly fairly high. But they couldn't clear the tallest peaks, so their crews threaded through the maze of rocky, snow-covered passes. The operation's commander said, "After the Hump, [we] knew that we could fly anything anywhere anytime."
The heavier C-46 Commando was the workhorse of the Hump, but had so many mechanical problems that crews called it a "flying coffin".
The Royal Air Force also flew C-47s over the Hump. Its British nickname was the Dakota.
Is that an atomic fly on the side?
That's the logo of a joint United States and Mexican program to combat larval flies that were feeding on cattle and sheep in the 1970s. Skytrains dropped flies that had been exposed to atomic radiation, sterilizing them. The sterilized flies mated with healthy flies, producing no offspring, and eventually the flies died off.
Planes flew precise patterns to cover affected areas completely with sterile flies. Irradiated flies are the stuff of science fiction, but the program worked.

High Force is a waterfall on the River Tees, near Middleton-in-Teesdale, Teesdale, County Durham, England.
The waterfall is within the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and European Geopark.
The whole of the River Tees plunges 71 feet over a precipice in two stages. In former times flooding created two separate falls, but after the completion of Cow Green Reservoir in the upper Teesdale this seldom happens now.
High Force was formed where the River Tees crosses the Whin Sill – a hard layer of igneous rock (also seen at Hadrian's Wall). The waterfall itself consists of three different types of rock. The upper band is made up of whinstone, or dolerite, a hard igneous rock which the waterfall takes a lot of time to erode. The lower section is made up of Carboniferous Limestone, a softer rock which is more easily worn away by the waterfall. Between these two layers is a thinner layer of Carboniferous sandstone, which was baked hard when the Whin Sill was molten 295 million years ago.
The wearing away of rock means that the waterfall is slowly moving upstream, leaving a narrow, deep gorge in front of it. The length of the gorge is currently about 700 metres. Upstream of the waterfall, the river is narrow; downstream, it widens and meanders.

Caleb inspired me again with his recent series of Exo-Force videos. I arrived to the theme in the third and final wave so I missed some of the early classic sets; Uplink was always a favourite. There's just something so toyetic in it's spindly, stompy goodness.
Anyway, I had to try a larger version. The legs are reused from my Orb Spider mech (here's to be lazy and not sorting for months at a time).

This is a well known waterfall next to Ullswater in the Lake District. The difference is a different angle (I got my feet wet!). I used my lovely 14mm, 2.8 Nikkor, on my D700 set to RAW (a force to be reckoned with!! sorry!). As the sun was almost above there needed to be a lot of post processing, there was a wide, wide range of exposure for the camera to deal with, but it was this lighting that gave the gorgeous colours in the water.
Air Force Space and Missile Museum
The Atlas Radio Guidance System was used to control the initial flight path of an Atlas missile. The Atlas gave the U.S. its first Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) capability, being declared operational in September 1959. Guidance systems similar to this were used in the control of the Atlas during the late 1950's and early 1960's.
This guidance system was made up of four distinct subsystems:
1. The position measuring subsystem determined the location of the missile during flight.
2. The velocity measuring subsystem calculated the speed and direction of the missile.
3. The missile-borne subsystem provided a continuous data link between the missile and ground systems.
4. The computer subsystem tied all the systems together.
A van contained all of the radio transmitting equipment necessary to send guidance commands to the Atlas during the early portion of its flight. An automated flight program was fed to the van from a guidance computer like the one on display in the Blockhouse.
The two antennas located outside the van were used to determine the position and velocity of the missile. These data were fed to the guidance computer, which measured any deviations in the flight path and calculated any course corrections needed. Course corrections were transmitted by radio to the missile.
The dish antenna is the Atlas Position Measuring Antenna, and was used to measure the velocity of the missile. Its 6-foot diameter dish and other hardware were manufactured by General Electric. The entire unit weighs more than 3,700 pounds and is about 14 feet long, 6 feet wide and 9 feet tall.
The other antenna is the Mod I radar. It weighs 20,000 pounds and was used to provide position data on the Atlas during its flight.
