Picture presenting April Fools!

Richmond Castle had a Knights Tournament. As well as a handful of stalls showcasing various things, they had a tournament between 4 knights. Between the 1v1 tournament and the Grand Melee the Fool put on a show involving fire eating and "getting onto stilts in the most incompetent and convoluted way possible".

A long exposure of the street lights on Hanover Quay creates an artifact in the image, as if the lights are beaming off in to the night. A solitary star appears as a pinprick of grey.

The instruments are starting to come off the line!

The replacement lens for my Nikon isn’t here yet so I’m still stuck with fooling the idiot camera into doing what I want done.

The light was strange. It was overcast to the East but the sky was much clearer to the West and there was this big, white cloud overhead, providing a lot of fill light (as it were). I still wasn’t sure it was enough light to fill in the shadows so I wanted the flash on the camera to go off. It won’t do that in “Landscape” mode — which is exactly why I normally use it -- trying to keep the flash from going off when I’m taking (before) sunrise shots. So I had to try a bunch of different modes before I found one where the flash would go off in daylight. I think it wound up being “Nighttime Portrait” or something goofy like that.

Nikon L22

ISO 80 (Why?)

6.72mm (I’d guess about 28mm equivalent)

-1.3v (It tries to overexposure everything so I have to adjust the EV button on every shot.)

F3.1 (I call it an idiot camera for a reason.)

1/250th (Still an idiot camera)

The fool is my favorite tarot card. It's the only card from the major arcana that has survived to the modern card deck as the joker, and like the joker, he's a sort of wild card, having no locked down order in the deck.
