Forgotten classic car decaying in a wooded area near tiny Fairhaven,IL. This is one of two abandoned classic cars that have sat here for many years.I don't mean to be judgemental, but it seems pretty foolish to leave these vintage rides to waste away like this....

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !!

Today is a red day at Color My World Daily and the theme at Macro Mondays is April fools. In my opinion a fish must be part of an April fools picture on this Photostream. That is why, I decided to go with Red Lady and her incredible April fools catch . A fish sooooo big that it was bigger than the boat… and even bigger than Red Lady herself. Of course, this enormous April fools fish was catch using a retractable harpoon that Red Lady always has in her purse… it is usually next to a bottle of Sherry she likes to carry with her on her fishing trips or any other trip as well… To catch a fish that big is quite an achievement… and of course sometimes the fish gets bigger and bigger each time the story is told. This way the fish might end up being quite large , but in this case we have a picture to prove it !! And I hope this picture will fool you in believing everything in my narrative ;-) !

Mucho, mucho amor for you my friends !!

This is more of a picture in the making.

Again I didn't realise that I had set the ISO to 1000 when taking this, and I'm still kicking myself over it now.

The idea for this shot is very different to how I want it to be, but here's a little taste of it until I get what I want from this place.

Close up of a bee orchid flower. If you see carefully, the dark part of the flower is shaped and coloured very much like a bee - in particular a female bee. This fools the male bees and they get onto the flower in a futile attempt to mate. This, however, serves the plant's purpose of pollination.

Macro Mondays theme Iron

Fools gold is a common name given to iron pyrite which is a sulfide mineral of iron. It has a wonderfully lustrous surface which is great at reflecting light.

I had two lights pointing at this nugget, one from the top right and one from the bottom left - to try to minimise the shadows cast by the first light. I quite liked the reflections and colours it produced.

I took this this morning but then ran out of time to post and have been struggling to catch up eversince. Now I can sit down and admire everyone elses lovely images!

The width of frame here is just under 4cm.

Happy Macro Monday! 😊

Happy Macro Mondays, HMM !!

A brand new Fujifilm Intax camera, the Mini Instax 900, that creates instant 35mm color negatives.

Just a day ago I walked through this cemetery in shirtsleeves on a quintessential early spring day, sunny, blue sky and temperature in the low 70s. But that was then. A cold front swept over the village overnight and kicked up lake effect snow off of Lake Erie. Just light snow at first. But I watched an ominous darkening on the Doppler radar this morning. I've actually been awaiting a moment like this for over a year now. Heavy snow moving in during daylight hours to the extent that the flakes could be captured in mid-air. For this to work I needed an air temp at or above freezing to ensure large, fluffy flakes. The planets finally aligned for me this morning. I headed into the cemetery just as the snow arrived. There was already a light ground cover from the overnight snow. The sky literally darkened around me as falling snow blotted the sun. It was breathtaking just how quickly the sky and landscape transformed. I found myself in this space, hands freezing, wind howling, and the review screen obscured by water droplets. I just pointed the camera blindly, set the flash, and pressed the shutter. Sometimes you just have to trust fate. This is the resulting image. Absolutely every bit of what I had hoped for. The snowflakes reflect the flash creating an orb-like effect. It's a glimmering, magical effect juxtaposed against the stunningly lifeless surroundings. I don't know why but I absolutely love the view of distant gravestones dotting the background. I suppose it just adds more depth, but my feelings go beyond that. Has to do with the photo having a sense of place I guess.

Postscript: I had no sooner posted this image when the sun returned, beaming down brighter than ever. Only traces of this snow remain; melted away in just minutes as it it never happened. Further motivation for quick response to changing weather conditions. There was just a short metaphorical window of opportunity to get this shot. Glad I didn't waste it watching out my actual window.

0 - THE FOOL

In this Gothic Tarot aesthetic, this specific version of the Fool departs from classic naiveté to embrace a wilder, more primal nature.

0. The Fool: The Pied Piper of the Abyss

The Image: He appears as a pale, lanky figure with gravity-defying hair that leaps skyward like frozen flames. Two long, curved horns sprout from his forehead, a sign of his connection to the instinctive and the pagan. As he walks aimlessly toward the precipice, his long, slender fingers pluck a hypnotic melody from a flute of bone or black wood.

The Meaning: He is not just a traveler; he is a free and chaotic spirit. The music he plays is the soundtrack to his own destiny; a melody only he can hear, insulating him from imminent danger.

Dark Symbolism: The horns and spiky hair suggest an overflowing, almost electric, mental and spiritual energy. It represents the blind leap into the unknown, the genius bordering on madness, and the disregard for social conventions in favor of absolute and perilous freedom.

It is the perfect prelude to a dark deck: the beginning of a journey where reason is silenced so that the music of the soul—however dissonant it may be—can take over.

Thought this Bombylius Major (Bee Mimic) was a perfect choice for April Fools Day! HFDF ;0)

Warm sunset on a frozen lake – I took this sunset photo at Fools Hollow Lake State Park. I loved how the ice has melted in sections giving a zigzag shape to the water and I though the warm glow of the sunset left a nice contrast to the cold water and ice.

The technical: Shot on a Nikon D810 paired with a Tamron 70-200 zoomed to 165. ISO125 f/20 for 1/13th of a second. I zoomed in to compress the photo a little and draw more attention on the ice.

Burning fools left and right.

Are we lucky or what? Right here in my town we've got someone who knows more about diseases and epidemiology than all those folks who have devoted a lifetime to studying such.

A friend titled this "Fools Glint" before he realised I knew it wouldn't be a proper glint.

This spot has always captivated me with the reflection it can cause from backlighting, and finally I had some sort of train I could give it a crack with.

GM27 and GM22 work 1MC1 to Milvale through Wornes Gate with the sun directly behind but not quite giving the right glint affect.
