The king's fool. Details from Henry VIII and his Family. Here you can see the garden beyond the loggia where the family are standing - recreated next to the chapel Royal this year. Hampton Court Palace.
During their performance, they were playing around a little bit! So funny, 'cause they always look so very sad in the circus....
I saw the crescent moon through a window and briefly noticed a bright light above it and to the left that I assumed was a plane's light. There are many planes in the sky where I live. But the light didn't move, so I realized that once again I had been fooled by the amazing brightness of Venus.
So I grabbed my camera and went outside to take a picture to memorialize that, much to my delight, I continue to be fooled by Venus's light when I'm not intentionally looking for her.
Later, when I looked at the image, I realized that there was another, dimmer point of light in-between the moon and Venus. So I finally went to find out what I might have expected to see there on that evening. It was Jupiter, and the serious star gazers were looking for him too, as well as the moon passing in front of Venus on the following day. Obviously I'm only a little bit of a geek about the night skies.

Recently Forbes magazine ranked Redding near the bottom of its list of Top Ten Trout Fishing Towns. BOY did we do a good job fooling them!
If fly fishermen really knew just how great the evening fish is just behind Rayley's Supermarket, they would move here in droves. I suppose if that were to happen, we would probably have crowds like State College Pa which is nearer to the top of the list.
Last night is a good example. After spending the day in the garden I was relaxing on the deck with a couple of gin and tonics, when it hit me. I had not been down to my favorite spot, here in town, for near six weeks. The evening temperature was about 85 and the caddis hatch was surely going to happen.
so:
*On the river by 6:15 (rod was already made up and hanging on it's hooks in the garage)
*River flows just over 6000 cfs so wading was easy.
*Fish on by 7:02 (camera info said this picture was taken at 7:10)
*Great photo of the trout (20" + or -) using the old serendipity method.
*Home for dinner before 8:00
Eat your hearts out guys! I will probably be doing the same thing all over again TONIGHT.
