Zebras are several species of African equids (horse family) united by their distinctive black-and-white striped coats. Their stripes come in different patterns, unique to each individual. They are generally social animals that live in small harems to large herds. Unlike their closest relatives, horses and donkeys, zebras have never been truly domesticated. There are three species of zebras: the plains zebra, the mountain zebra and the Grévy's zebra. The plains zebra and the mountain zebra belong to the subgenus Hippotigris, while Grévy's zebra is the sole species of subgenus Dolichohippus. The latter resembles an ass, to which zebras are closely related, while the former two look more horse-like. All three belong to the genus Equus, along with other living equids. The unique stripes of zebras make them one of the animals most familiar to people. They occur in a variety of habitats, such as grasslands, savannas, woodlands, thorny scrublands, mountains, and coastal hills. Various anthropogenic factors have had a severe impact on zebra populations, in particular hunting for skins and habitat destruction. Grévy's zebra and the mountain zebra are endangered. While plains zebras are much more plentiful, one subspecies, the quagga, became extinct in the late 19th century – though there is currently a plan, called the Quagga Project, that aims to breed zebras that are phenotypically similar to the quagga in a process called breeding back. Ok, so it seems customary on Flickr to celebrate certain follower milestones. I also find that competitions are a good way to build rivalries and friendships amongst the Lego Flickr community. So what better way to celebrate my 100 followers, than hosting a competition!

The competition is open ONLY to the 100 followers I have at time of posting this message.

Why?

Because I want to thank the people that followed me because they enjoyed what I did and not because they wanted a competition prize.

As I'm Black Falcon through and through, it only seems right that my first competition is to Build a Black Falcon Minifig.

Do not fear if you do not have shields and torsos. The Black Falcon crest does not need to be displayed.

Rules:

1. Judging will be on a single focal Minifig, however an entourage to accentuate that Minifig is not only acceptable, but encouraged.

2. Backstories are not required, but will help, because I love a good backstory!

3. Simply because I love Minifigs, each participant can have a maximum of 3 entries.

4. 3rd party accessories allowed.

5. No modding.

I also would like to say a very big thank you to Bus Lists on the Web and the PSV Circle for their excellent work that they do throughout the year. If anyone of you isnt a member of the PSV Circle then I wold recommend it.

The bus in the photograph is LB71 ECE, a BYD D8UR-DD/Alexander Dennis Enviro400EV new to Tayside Public Transport in December 2021 as their number 8500. It is seen here at Albert Square, Dundee operating service 18 to Cleverhouse in wintry conditions that I stumbled across during a visit to Dundee in December 2023.

Last week I hit 5,000 followers on here! It feels like a very big milestone indeed! I had hoped to do a 'Thank you' video but while I have been recovering well this week, I still don't think I'll be getting any proper girl time for another week or two.

I definitely wouldn't be here and doing this without a lot of support, especially those friends who have gifted me lots of nice clothes and other things to wear. I do still feel like I have a lot of progress to make with my look and my confidence to go out and express myself more though. We'll just have to see what the future brings.

This will be a real marmite moment for my followers for you will either love it or hate it.

Yeah I know You view me as the girl next door and post like this don't tend to get the attention one would expect. I rather like that fact at least I know you have a level of respect for me.

But difficult times mean difficult choices and as morale officer I have to keep your spirits up and make a sacrifice and a little dignity is a small price to pay, How's my justification going? are you buying it?

If you knew how many shots it took to get this right you would wonder why I bothered and yes I know its a small bag!

In August, 2016, within a two-week period, two brush/woodland fires burned into the edges of Summit Valley—the Pilot fire from the east, and the Blue Cut fire from the west. Both fires began outside the valley and burned into its remote ends, and both fires did considerable damage inside and outside the valley: the Pilot fire burned 8,000 acres, the Blue Cut fire 36,000 acres.

As the burned areas of the valley have begun to recover, spring flowers like this, in a burned clearing on the valley's southeastern end, help to fill in the open ground. Poodle-dog bush, with its showy spikes of pale purple flowers, is known as a fire-follower, an annual which blooms for several years after a fire until more woody growth takes over; the fire-follower's seeds then remain buried until their germination is stimulated by the heat or smoke of another fire.

Film: 35mm Kodak Ektar 100 ISO Color Negative Film, developed using The Film Photography Project's C-41 Home Processing Kit, and scanned with an Epson V600 scanner.

Last weekend we woke up to the thickest fog I have ever seen, and where I live it was there for the whole day!

I was desperate to head out to shoot in it and make the most of the eeriness and decided on this concept (similar to the last image), as the mist would really work with the idea and give a lot of depth!
