Hi everyone! My 400 Followers contest is finally here! And a name change too! (pls comment what you think of my new name).

So the main idea is to take a picture of your SigFig, or a Minifigure of you, celebrating the end of school and start of summer! In this pic, I'm throwing away math textbooks and sayinh hello, summah! :D So yeah, pretty straightforward.

I am joining the Factions RPG as part of the Followers of the Force faction (Hosted by Sam)! Because I had so much fun in the last RPG I was a part of, The Survivors (Hosted by Brickologist) I am super excited and I look forward to building with these guys!

Well, without any further ado. I present to you, Honey Lemon:

Meet Honey Lemon, an Explorer who grew up among the rubble of the rebels and the exploits of the empire. Having her home destroyed and her parents lost to war at an early age she was forced to live a life of scavenging. Typically surviving on whatever could be found and never staying in the same place twice.

Regarding her scavenging, she has spent a great time on Republic war wrecks leading to finds such as her tattered clone armor as well as the yellow lightsaber she carries. It is with that saber, she continued to explore and hold her own.

Well, that was...that was until she was approached.

She had never really had a family. She couldn't even remember her own blood, yet something about the Followers of the Force felt like home and so here she is.

This weeks blog post features the burrowing owls of south Florida. Each year I look forward to visiting with them and photographing them as they first emerge from the burrows ... until they finally fledge and find/make new burrows of their own. I always anticipate those months and know the rewards of being patient when around them.

From a very early age, these young owlets begin to show their personalities ... yes, they all have their own ... and develop a hierarchal placement between them. Some are clearly more dominant than others. In this image, you can see that one is clearly more brave, more inquisitive than the other when it comes to observing their outside world. Can you guess which one? :-)

Even when they play there are those who assume a submissive role versus the aggressor. They are, pardon the pun, a real hoot to watch and photograph.

While this year I visited with them less than in years past, I still had many days of shooting images of the various burrows. Rest assured though, that I laughed quite a bit along the way as well. To spend time with these owls instantaneously lifts your spirit and brings lots of joy. They are one of my favorite things about living where I do. I may not have mountains ... but I sure do have these owls. :-)
