Space Folding transforms live flight data into an immersive light installation through a series of custom built software applications using Distributed Display Protocol (DDP) to control individually addressable array of addressable LED light pixles.
The work encourages the audience to imaginatively engage in teleportation. There is a sense of going to a new place, and yet it is the same place. Space Folding achieves this by bringing the aesthetic of the United Arab Emirates and combining it with international air space data to visualise the interconnected nature of cultural dynamics.
Spacefolding by Zina Kaye and team was premiered internationally at Zayed University ISEA 2014 Dubai. spacefolding.hol.ly/

It can fold its legs and protuberant head completely, which is ''apparent death''. A bit uncanny but pretty behaivor :)
Specs:
2 skeins Hello Yarn Sock in Candied Peel
0.5 skeins Malabrigo Yarn Sock in Ravelry Red for the edgings & neckline.
I had to use the red to finish the sweater because I didn't have enough Candied Peel, but I felt like it turned out really well. I lengthened everything about 2" with a folded over hem.

This was a concept video I made my sophomore year in design studio. It was a really quick two week project that required the use paper for disaster relief with a focus on food or water. I made this, sitting alone at home, late the night before the project was due. I didn't have a tripod, or really anything to hold the camera, but I just made teetering stacks of stuff until things looked about right.
This is pretty nerdy, but it was the only video I had that fit the flickr video upload standards.
