Beloved musician Ben Folds and acclaimed author Nick Hornby co-headline Liner Notes, a benefit series exploring the cross-pollination of music and literature. Presented by SPIN, the event will also celebrate the release of Hornby and Folds’ collaborative album, Lonely Avenue.

WHAT : Cartridge paper, mounting board.
HOW : A4 sheet of catridge paper was cut into 1CM strips, folded into halves or quarters, cut and then fold again to create the leaves and trunk shapes. The entire piece is held together by folding and placement alone, no adhesives.
PROBLEMS : My original design was boring and poorly made. I had trouble thinking of ways to do this without using origami or doing the simple triangle fold out of a magazine. As I was making the tree, my room became hot and my fan was one which led to most of my pieces blowing around every now and then.

University project from 2010 - these are what I put into my final edit.
(The ones I picked were printed with a border, relatively small, hand-sized, & presented in a folded paper packet.)

All woven with five 7/8" wide by 1/11" thick kiln dried northern basswood slats per 4 5/8" wide fold. All slats and moulding sanded smooth. Weaving cords are #12 hard finish 38 lb. test prestretched fisherman's seine twine spaced 4 3/4" apart except end cords, which are 1" from end of slat.
