I noticed we had fog this morning on the way to the gym at 7am. This shot was taken across the street from Joslin Park in south Austin. I love fog. :)
It's kind of wild the way you can see the bottom of the fog cloud about 10 feet off the ground.. Like you could almost reach up and touch the bottom of a cloud.

I find foggy landscape photos to be a bit mysterious and dynamic, probably one of my favorite conditions to shoot in. Angular trees and branches work especially well in the diffused lighting, where shapes are boiled down to their "essences".

The fogger in operation, about 15 seconds after power on. I ordered a "float" with the fogger, which apparently was designed for a fogger of much larger size. This float is much too large to use in my setup, and also places the fogger 5mm too close to the surface of the water, so I'm going to have to build my own float to replace it.
Taken on a walk in 2006, I've been sorting through old photos and did a new processing of this. I think it's from the area around Cratcliffe or Robin Hood's Stride.
If I remember correctly this day turned out to be quite the one for fog with disruption to many airports.
this picture was on the front of the LA Times. i wish there was a more effective way than Flickr to properly convey the emotion, sadness, and beauty of this photograph. it's haunting.

The fog comes
on little cat feet
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

I like to go out in the night , specially if the weather is not good. Then its possible to get in to some surreal conditions. The fog was so tight that is was like heavy rain and I could only see about 50m ahead. All my gear got soaking wet , but it survived. Scr..... Yoga ... in circumstance like this you will feel real peace and inner calm : D
