I used an extender on this one to get closer that my lens would allow. Maybe someday I'll have a macro lens. But then, how much would I use it?

I have for quite a while been facinated by surface tension, but have never really been successful in turning that into a successful photograph. I think this one almost succeeds. Maybe something worth persisting with.
Asian hornet (Vespa velutina) with a german wasp (Vespula germanica). Both found in the garden (Boom, Belgium, 8th October 2023). Asian hornets are invasive and prey on bees, flies & wasps.

9 image focus stack. Don't look too closely at the flowers. The idea was to get the flowers in the foreground, which were moving in the breeze, and the hills of the peninsula in the background in focus together.
Photoshop did a pretty good job matching up the various images, but I had to do some erasing of the blooms, which ended up in two places at the same time.
Torrential rain all morning and most of the afternoon suddenly blew away and revealed a blue sky with some lovely light for an hour. When I took a chance and went for a walk I found this 'river' where yesterday there had been a path through the trees. I'm always taken by the random paths the water makes through the leaves.

Der Palpuognasee liegt in den Albula-Alpen auf 1918 m ü. M. oberhalb von Preda im Schweizer Kanton Graubünden.
Woodland at Henfield Common, Sussex. Ten images stacked in Zerene. I accidentally shot these in jpeg, but was very happy with the results.
Couple of Green Leafhoppers (Cicadella viridis; Cicadellidae, Hemiptera). Found in a wet meadow (Latvia, Valmiera, 22nd August 2023).
This species is hard to photograph from closeby, but these two didn't notice me I think.
