I was up early this weekend to find roosting damselflies. This is an incomplete focus stack as it was quite warm and this Banded demoiselle moved before I finished.

Flat ground beetle with greenish spots (22 mm, Carabus depressus; Coleoptera, Carabidae) found years ago in Austria (1500m, Ischgl, 7 July 1993; collection specimen).
Studio work with a dead specimen; first cleaned and rehydrated, then staged. Focus bracketing, 89 images, assembled in Zerene Stacker (Pmax & Dmap). Sony A7RM5 (crop mode), FE 2.8/90 Macro G OSS; ISO-100, f/5.6, 1/5 sec, diffused LED light.

The initial stack for the image of the chafer was processed using Helicon Focus 7 Methods B & C. I post-processed in PS combining what I thought were the better results from each method. I then adjusted exposure and color balance in the merged image.
In this image, I processed the stack using the new slabbing function in Zerene. The stack contained 120 images which I broke up in to sub-stacks, or slabs, of 12 images each with an overlap of 4. I stacked each slab using PMax. Zerene automates the process making it relatively easy and quick. I then stacked the slab outputs in the usually way using PMax, and post-processed the output image in PS.
I didn't spend much time cleaning up this image, so there are some stacking artifacts such as squiggly lines and halo effects.
I think I like the slabbing results from Zerene a bit better than the Helicon Focus results. I see the improvements particularly with the eyes.

Our first daylily of the season — the first of the cultivars although the common orange ones have been blooming for a week already.

Not sure what these small fungi are - trying to research. The larger one was less than 1 cm in diameter. Stack of 8 images. Happy Fungi Friday!
The closest description I can find is that these may be the orange form of Ruby Elfcups. (Sarcoscypha coccinea var. aurantiaca).
After further review - these may be Sowerbyella rhenana fungi.
