What the Fluff? A Tribute to Union Square Invention is an annual festival in Union Square, Somerville where we honor Archibald Query, the creator of Marshmallow Fluff. All photos this collection by Linda Gritz.

Cute Trunk Couple no.345

Somerville rang in the birthday of every New Englander's favorite sandwich spread, the marshmallow concoction called Fluff, in its original home: Union Square. There was a science fare, a cooking contest, a burlesque, and a whole lot of Fluff flying (a tug-o-war into a pool of the stuff first among many). The turnout was pretty stellar and despite the clouds, everyone had a sweet, mallowy time.

My upstairs neighbour's cat had kittens when they weren't home and the mother killed all but one. This is Fluff, the only surviving kitten a few days after he was born.

A knock-off of a childhood favorite: Cadbury's Chocolate Logs. Basically, this is marshmallow fluff piped over chocolate-coated wafers and the tops then dipped in chocolate for the finishing touch.

Just finished these two fluffs, and there's two more to come tomorrow! :)

Pocket Fluffs are fun little pocket sized monsters!

These guys are the perfect little travel companion for anyone that's ever wanted their own pet monster.

They are about 4.5 inches tall and 3 inches wide. They are made from faux fur and feature a handpainted face.

Annual event in Union Square, Somerville, MA, held the last Saturday of September. This collection of photos by Kim Serpico.

Padre, fluff, stepmum. All laughing because someone probably pinched a bum or something.

The micro fluff is the newest (and smallest!) member of the Pocket Fluff family!

This little one is about 1 inch tall and 1.5 inches wide.

He's made of an orange faux fur.

His face was hand painted by me using artist quality acrylics and sealed with a matte varnish.

Pocket Fluffs are able to stand on their own. :)

The Pocket Fluff Monsters are made from my original design.

****Please Note:

The micro pocket fluffs are VERY small. I only recommend this size for adult collectors.****

Another of the Kranz household. Fluff is a long haired tabby (hence her name) who was adopted from being a stray.

Fluffs gets in on the call.

Katy got a chair and Fluffer is very much enjoying the box.

When I'm on cat feeding duty for the Kranz family's cats I take the opportunity to get some photos! Fluff is an old lady now, but still as conversational as ever :)

Some 'fluff' stuck to a tuft of grass growing from a sidewalk. I guess if you made it glow a bit more it would like like a being of energy. =)
