Color photograph of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8053 float in the 1991 Fourth of July Parade in Hingham. Float celebrates the soldiers who served in the Gulf War/Operation Desert Storm. A papier-mâché soldier in desert camouflage rides a camel. He holds an American flag in his right hand and the camel's reins in the left. The camel has a sign on its side reading "Riding the Storm."
In the collection of the Hingham Historical Society [PH258].
LaSalle Barge and Dock Co. car float #102 has arrived from the 59th Street Yard on the far side of LaSalle Harbor. The tug has pulled away and a dock worker is releasing the jacks which held the cars in place on the float.
NAPM's East LaSalle job will unload and then reload the float; a few hours from now another tug will arrive to take LSB&D #102 back to 59th Street.

Good evening Flickrers!
As per usual, I have been poor at uploading. I haven't had much impetus to get up and take photos thanks to the weather!
Anyway, hope you like it!
Dedicate to my Bright friend.

The world's slowest pirate ship. A secret society yacht club. Chuck Palahniuk's "Fight Club" (without the violence) meets Capt. Jack Sparrow's "Black Pearl". Dad's hideout, and a waystation for my crewmates--an eclectic mix of self-nominated scurvy scoundrels and nautical ne'er-do-wells. You may qualify yourself.
The Westland Whirlwind helicopter was a British licence-built version of the US Sikorsky S-55/H-19 Chickasaw. It primarily served with the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm in anti-submarine and search and rescue roles. It was also exported to other countries. The helicopter was made in many variants using a variety of radial (piston) and turbine engines. Note the engine access doors are open - this seems to be a feature of all the Brunei Whirlwind images I hold, suggesting that removal of heat from the engine compartment was a problem...
Whirlwind helicopters fitted with turbine power served right up until the early 1980s, and a converted Whirlwind was in the Queen's Flight, although Queen Elizbeth II never flew in it.
This is a Westland Whirlwind SRS.3, serial no. WA/491, built in 1964. It is seen on an improvised landing pad somewhere in Brunei. It was being operated by the Angkatan Tenara Udara Diraja Brunei (Royal Brunei Air Force), perhaps trialling the fitted floats in field conditions (see earlier and later photos in this album).
This was a PR photo and is scanned from a print retained by the RAF pilot on secondment. I do not have an exact site for this photo, so the map location is entirely arbitrary.
I’ve been eyeing these inflatable cup holders for literally a year now but I could never justify paying $10-$20 for *one* but turns out Cotton On (a clothing store) is clearancing out a whole bunch for $3 each so I had to grab one.
I picked the swan cuz, next to the flamingo, it’s one of the most common pool floats I’ve seen on Instagram.
Henry’s enjoying floating around in my bath tub though.
