This photograph displays the typical vegetation of the higher regions of the Flinders Ranges, having been taken at 965 metres above sea level.

 

Whereas I would have liked to have photographed the surrounding view, high trees obscure anything potentially spectacular - an arguably disappointing drawback of climbing Mount Remarkable.

The ABC Range Quartzite is composed of grayish red to white, coarse- to very fine-grained quartzite, cyclically interstratified with very fine-grained sandstone and siltstone. The section at this outcrop was likely deposited in a shallow subtidal to fluvial environment.
