A lowline Bull Calf flexes his muscles. I visited my inlaws farm (Tartan Farm near Mercer, NZ) and was asked to take some photos of the stud calves. During the shoot a young bull calf stood up and stretched, hey presto............ the rest is history.
Inspired by BINGEE3 The Dinkin Mill I have attempted a texturing exercise, he has managed some texturing I am struggling to achieve.
PS this calf as a young bull broke a leg in the yards about 8 months later and had to be put down.
An ( to me ) unkown japanese TLR, called Hoker-Flex. It must be very rare as I couldn't find any further information neither in the English nor in the Japanese speaking internet.
It uses an own Hoker lens, 75 mm, 1:3,5 and an Shoei Seiki shutter. Shutter speeds from 1-200 and B. Self timer available.
Any information about this camera are much appreciated.
While installing the lift I opted to completely remove the rear sway bar (which was oversized as I had the air suspension). I also have quick disconnects already installed on the front sway bar. On the street there is little noticeable difference with the rear gone. Off road, it is a big help having the rear axle able to do some flex-work for a change.
Tire size is LT265/75R16, minimal rubbing occurred at the leading corners of the plastic trim panel below the doors, and the trailing corners of the bumper trim. Use of a DREMEL makes short work of removing the excess trim, with little noticeable cosmetic change. There is no rubbing in the rear at this tire size.
The stock bump-stops actually prevent upward articulation to a point that would allow the tire to rub anything metal. Downward articulation is not noticeably affected on the opposite wheel by this, however I have clearly outgrown the LEI Test Track and need to seek out larger obstacles for a realistic test.
More flex could certainly be gained with a taller lift, however additional cost would be required to properly build it and maintain acceptable driveline angles. At 2 inches, the additional stress on driveline components is negligible, allowing the vehicle substantially improved capability using a far simpler (and less expensive) spring-and-shock only lift.

This is probably one of my favorite images from the nXnw Moab trip, but not because it is overly badass, or epic, or glorious, or anything like that. No, I like this shot because it was this setup that suddenly had a few of the other guys interested in trying their hand at photographing my toys. As I was getting this setup, Justin Balog mentioned he wanted to snag a few images of the Jeep on the rocks, to which I happily agreed.
He and I sat there, taking turns with our subject, comparing images along the way. I shared a few tips and, ultimately, the fun that is toy photography. This eventually led to a few others snagging some shots of Donatello at a later point that morning. It was a great way to finish off the trip.
I admit it, it was nice to have people I consider my superiors, whom I look to for inspiration and guidance, turn and ask me for tips or to want to see how my mind works when shooting something that seems so childish and minuscule. It was an honor, and something that I will not forget.
