Fleet Week 2015 San Francisco Navy ship tours.

The Coronado is a "littoral combat ship", designed to be fast, and able to sail in close to shore. It has a number of uses: landing men and vehicles on shore, launching helicopters, and doing anti-submarine and anti-mine operations. Designed especially to repel swarm boat attacks.

This is the 15.10 Fleet Buzz route 72 working from Reading to Fleet - although you can't tell just by looking! Stagecoach in Hampshire Olympian 16588, completely bereft of any route or destination information, loads at Market Place, Reading, on Tuesday 7th May.

Apparently the vehicle has been loaned to Fleet Buzz for a trail period, as following the timetable changes of 14th April some route 72 journeys on schooldays now require additional capacity. It is thought to be the first double decker that has worked along the route for some years.

First attempt at some landscape shots out at fleet pond - Funny fact, The birds are hungry and if the swans 4 foot tall it's not afraid to snap at you for food!

Before buying Volvos F1-3, Fleet Coaches' previous new purchase was this DAF SB2305. This wasn't one of my favourites to travel on - it always felt slow and, being the only 57-seater in the fleet, the tightly pitched seats weren't great for people over 6ft tall. Fleet Coaches disposed of all three of their DAFs in 1992 (apparently spare parts were significantly more expensive than for the Volvos) and this one went to Clayton, Leicester. I know not where it went after that, but by the time I met my missus in 2005 (who comes from that part of the world), there was no trace of a Claytons or the DAF.

The luggage locker door without stripes was uncharacteristic for the firm and must have been the result of a recent minor scrape.

There was once again a nice selection of coaches, buses and minibuses at the 2025 Cheltenham Festival, when I made my annual visit on Gold Cup Day. One such vehicle was AA24 ASA, a Yutong GT12 new to the fleet of ASA, Stechford, Birmingham in March 2024.

I think that this is Fleet street junction with Ludgate Circus sometime in the late 1920s. It is obviously a 'mocked up' photograph and is titled "May Good Luck always cross your path". The Carter and Paterson Lorry driver needs a bit of luck because his nearside front tyre is bald. Carter and Paterson was founded in 1860 as a carrier and delivery company and was one of the first delivery companies to change over from horse power to steam lorries in 1904. They had their depot in Goswell Road just north of the City of London. In 1933 they were taken over by the big four Railway Companies and in 1948 became part of British Road Services. The modern delivery company 'Lynx' is a direct descendant of Carter Paterson through takeovers, nationalisation and buy outs over the years.
