Vintage flatware for the Tarnished Collection. Each 12"x6" painting is named for an ancestor. There will be a minimum of 12 works this size in the series and they will all have matching black frames so that they will look amazing hanging together. Their names will only be visible on the back of the paintings.
These orphaned forks from a cheapo flatware set had skinny, unergonomic handles. Covering the handles with polymer clay made them more comfortable to use as well as more attractive.
The faux stone handle on the left was made primarily from regular off-white Sculpey that my husband bought for a project, with the addition of Sculpey III for color. Neither of these clays is known for durability, but the handle lasted for over a year through dozens of cycles in the dishwasher before finally cracking.
Living in a famous copper mining town, I had to try my hand at faux malachite. The handle at right was my first attempt at this cane. The layered colors were created with Sculpey III and Premo! and an extruder. A few extruded sections were wrapped in thin layers of clay to create more size diversity in the pattern, and the whole assemblage was wrapped in additional sheets of clay. This fork and its mate are still going strong after two years of dishwasher cycles.
Featuring Alessi Colombina dinnerware and glassware, Chilewich placemats, and Libeco Home table linen.

The kitchen came equiped with pots & pans, plates and flatware, and plenty of it. In addtion to the combo convention/microwave oven (with a cooktop) there was also a dishwasher. In addtion to the living room with sofa bed, there is one bedroom, a bathroom with a rain shower and combo washer/dryer as well as a foyer with a huge closet. Our home away from home in Paris. We rented the apartment from PerfectlyParis.com. I've since rented from them twice with excellent results. On the rue de Levis, a block away, is a wonderful open air produce market, butchers, fromageries, bakeries, a small Monoprix (grocery store) and any other store, bistro, shop you could want. Metro stop is only a 5 minute walk and there's a beautiful park, Parc Monceau just down the street.
