Edible Parts: Leaves, Root, Seed,

Edible Uses: Tea, Salad, Potherb, Vegetable, Flavoring,

Leaves - raw or cooked. Excellent raw, the leaves have a delicious sweet aniseed flavor and are liked by the majority of people who try them. They are also used as a flavoring for vegetables, and are an important ingredient of the herb mix 'bouquet garni'. They can be cooked with tart fruits in order to reduce their acidity. The plant produces fresh leaves from late winter to early the following winter. The leaves can also be dried for later use. It is best to prevent the plant from flowering if the leaves are required for culinary use, because they lose their flavor when the plant is in flower. Root - raw or cooked. A similar flavor to the leaves. So long as it is not too old, the root can be boiled and mixed with other vegetables or added to salads. Seed - raw or cooked. An aniseed flavor, it is usually used as a flavoring but can also be eaten raw while it is still green and before the fibrous coat has formed. It makes an excellent mouth freshener. A tea is made from the leaves.

MEDICINAL USES: Antiseptic, Aromatic, Carminative, Expectorant, Stomachic,

The whole plant, including the seed, is aromatic, carminative, expectorant and stomachic. It is useful in the treatment of coughs and flatulence, and also as a gentle stimulant for the stomach. The root is antiseptic and a decoction has been used to treat snake and dog bites. An ointment made from the roots has been used to ease gout and soothe wounds.

OTHER USES: Polish

The leaves and the seed make good polishes for wood. You just rub them over the wood and then rub the wood with a clean cloth to remove any greenness. It is particularly good on oak panels, giving a lovely glossy finish and an aromatic smell.

Dinner @ "Jaan by Kirk Westaway", reigning 2 Michelin Stars.

Lightly grilled morsels of tender langoustine served in a creamy and lightly umami seafood broth with dill fronds, pickled onion, samphire, split green peas and edamame. The light tanginess of the pickled onions and samphire brightened the dish and accentuated the natural sweetness of the crustacean. Probably borrowing a scene from “Oliver”, I was asking “Can I have some more (pieces)?” in my head.

The green peas and edamame however, truthfully, I could use less of. I am not fond of flatulence. I left most of it untouched.

good for what ails you(r dog)

Lucy adores Zak. He shares her interests and values. He's a friendly, happy dog and he's content to take Lucy's lead. He's not as clever as she is, and he's got terrible flatulence, but Lucy doesn't care about these things. Her feeling is: 'At last, someone who truly understands me!'

Sorry for the slight blur on this one -- low light, hand-held, you know, the usual story.

Sooo... we were looking through the Walmart clearance as usual, and found these Funrise novelty toys for $1. We didn't remember seeing them in the toy aisles when they were full price (about $5) but we probably just overlooked them.

There are two series, the Fart Ninjas and the Burp Zombies. They are motion activated and make various flatulence and burping sounds, with other effects mixed in as well such as a doorbell and even a dramatic sting. "Dun dun DUUUNNN!"

I was interested because $1 toys. CM, however, found great delight in the sounds. One of them, the Burp Zombie, had had it's battery tag removed so it was active. Throughout our journeys the rest of the day we would hear the bodily sounds and CM would break out in laughter. 😊

I don't think I have enjoyed them as much as CM, but they are fun. In fact, we've had consistent fun with Funrise toys, such as their dinos.

A lot of the old rack toys from the 70s-90s are cherished and quite pricey now, so I'm happy there are still companies like Funrise and JaRu pumping these out. 😊

Native to Eastern Europe, some specimens of Juniper are more than 1000 years old. The resinous aromatic berry-cones were highly valued by early Europeans who believed in Juniper’s “lifepower.” Oil of Juniper is given as a diuretic and is used as an aid for indigestion, flatulence, and diseases of the kidney and bladder.

I don't remember what we were laughing at, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it involved flatulence.

We pass gas everyday sometimes when we are awake or while asleep, releasing gas is a by-product of our complex digestive system. Although passing gas is a sign of good health, excessive farting can be the sign of a poor eating pattern and lifestyle. Moreover, uncontrollable smelly gas can cause embarrassment and can create an awkward situation socially. Luckily, the stinky smell from flatulence can be reduced and even eradicated. There are solution for smelly farts available and it can be treated at home, read the full blog on the best solution for the bad smelling gas on flatuscents.com.
