Root - peeled and eaten raw or cooked. One of the more palatable thistle roots. The thick, carrot-like taproot is likely to be rich in inulin, a starch that cannot be digested by humans. This starch thus passes straight through the digestive system and, in some people, ferments to produce flatulence. Stem - peeled. One of the more palatable thistles. The flower heads have been chewed to obtain the nectar.

Eli discovered this toy lion makes a sound like, ahem, flatulence when squeezed. He thought this was the funniest thing he'd ever heard!
I loved watching the sea lion pups with their mothers all over the galapagos. Day or night on beaches, walkways and benches they would suckle with a ferocity that was alarming at times. I wanted to go up to them and pet them but I wouldn't dare unless I wanted a mamma chasing me away. Their loud flatulence and belching was usually enough to help me keep my distance!

I make a lot of Bespoke Parts, faithfully to original design for fun, I had occasion to buy a Beha Cuckoo Clock molested by a clock shop and having modern Whistles fitted, I could not let that go and decided to replicate a set of faithful replicas, I bought some 100 year old wood, Queenslander Siding (Hoop or Baltic Pine) I then put it through the thicknesser to get the dimensions right , then cut out the components and started to make the whistle part, this is a learning curve, I can show you how to do that, part of it is trial and error, remember to use only slight breath to blow on the pipe when testing it has to work on Flea Flatulence., another thing is the bellows material and gluing both the tubes and the leather. for the tubes I selected Animal Glue which is awesome to work with when doing this and I bought a very special Water Based Leather Glue to do the leather, I used Car Chamois Leather, You can buy really thin Chamois Leather, don't used anything artificial, real leather, I bought some that was from New Zealand and it is real cheap in comparison to the stuff you get from suppliers of Cuckoo Clock parts. Write to me at powerclocks@hotmail.com for details. If you are as OCD as me and want things perfect I will help you all I can, these worked very well so I made a second set to see if I could do better and found I could, I disassembled the first set and used what I had learned in the 2nd construction to make them better then fitted them to the clock, no one could tell they were recently made, they blended perfectly, they just look to have had new leather bellows and papers fitted to the originals, I did sign and date the inside for future historians.

I never felt particularly comfortable walking directly behind asses and donkeys, especially on narrow rugged paths. The danger was mainly due to their extra-ordinary flatulence.
