Electronic sign announcing planned February 1st closure of 5th Avenue between Atlantic & Flatbush Avenues for Atlantic Yards construction.
It's unclear whether or not the planned closures will occur due to the pending ruling in the condemnation case heard on January 29th.
Flatbush-Tompkins Congegational Church (Allens & Collins, with Louis Jallade, 1910). This bit of pattern-book church-making, which mixes several old-timey parts, represents a joyless but tolerable eclecticism. Note the many-faceted parish house: it longs desperately to be some quirky original bit of Dutch Colonial whatnot, onto which (the story might go) a Greek Revival church was added in the 1840s, before the construction of a throwback Neoclassical steeple. Ahhh, it's okay. Site plan's a bit weak, though.
