The South Channel Range Lights in Lake St. Clair (Michigan) were constructed between 1855 and 1859 to help ships navigate through the St. Clair Flats. This is an important part of the trip between Port Huron and Detroit. The lights were seen on two July 12, 2014 Summer Discovery Cruises from Michigan Sea Grant. These were the 10am Lighthouses of Lake St. Clair & 2pm History of Lake St Clair. The earlier cruise was hazier. There were also many Common Terns that were living by the front range light (the shorter one). The lights are being restored by the SOSCLA (Save Our South Channel Lights Association - www.soschannellights.org/). The cruise was lots of fun!

At Pasadita restaurant which has been there for 40 years. Best food in Socorro! This is the flat blue corn enchilada plate. The egg was beyond perfection. We used to go to Sophia's but since the owner died we heard the food quality was way down.

Oz holding new five-photo frame I bought to take to work - everyone has to be represented, of course.

I found this in a back alley by my apartment. At first glance I thought it was roadkill and I was super sad. Then I realized it was still roadkill but the fruit kind.

Bus to the Tsawwassen ferry suffers a flat tire or broken suspension. The same thing happened to me in the Ukraine a few years ago, www.flickr.com/photos/jmv/32821400/ but this time, they replaced the bus, not the tire, and 30 minutes later, we were on our way...

So, my flat in Japan, home for 11 weeks.

It is actually a perfectly reasonable size, with good on-demand hot water, free broadband and general electricity and its own super powerful air con unit. The bathroom doubles as the dryer with another powerful fan installed to dry both the room and any clothing on the line.

The only problem I have is that the "kitchen" is perhaps a little under-developed. I'll be looking for a grill / microwave oven at the weekend. I need to be able to cook things! or at least grill them! A man should not live on stir frys alone...

Flat Iron Building : New York, NY

The "historic" Flat Iron building. It's really quite a dump. :)

It does however host a number of gallery spaces and artists studios,

although, the quality of the work varies substantially among the tenants.
