Examples:

Gaeilge:

Tosnóidh an ceol nuair a bheidh na ceoltóirí ullamh.

(The music will begin when the musicians are ready.)

An mó ceoltóir a bhí ag seint sa halla anocht?

(How many musicians were playing in the hall tonight?)

Suomi:

Moni Lou Reedin työstä inspiraatiota hakenut muusikko on esittänyt surunvalittelunsa Twitterissä.

(Many musicians who have been inspired by Lou Reed’s work have expressed their condolences on Twitter.)

Veli-Matti ”Läjä” Äijälä on suomalainen muusikko ja sarjakuvapiirtäjä.

(Veli-Matti “Läjä” Äijälä is a Finnish musician and cartoonist.)

Lahjat eivät riittäneet siihen, että olisi edes epäonnistunut muusikko.

(The gifts weren’t enough to make even a failed musician.)

Taking shots that fit two groups at once has become my challenge, even more these days when I barely have time for anything, even less to shoot or process. Such is the life of a teacher, and of a teacher´s kid.

My baby Sara can already recognize (I won't say read) 11 words in English! She likes flashcards and loves books. She makes me such a proud mommy (and teacher!) Though this picture is not Pulitzer-worthy, it is part of my daily life in pictures.

I am not sure what the difference is between Fig Bars and Fig Newtons.

Suomi:

He pelkäävät minua.

(They fear me.)

Hänessä on paljon hyvää, mutta pelkään, että eräs tyttö on aina hänen ajatuksissaan.

(There is much good in her, but I fear that a girl is always in her thoughts.)

Hän pelkäsi pääkaupunkia, sen jumalatonta menoa, kuten hän sanoi, autoja ja väkijoukkoja.

Pelkäsikö hän vanhenevansa? Ei pelännyt.

(Did she fear she was getting old? She did not fear it.)

Emäntä oli Jumalaa pelkäävä kunnon nainen, niin että häneen Eeva ainakin uskoi voivansa luottaa.

(The hostess was a decent woman who feared God, so that Eve believed at least that she could trust her.)

Pojat pelkäsivät heidän vallattomuudestaan suuitunutta opettajaa.

(The boys feared the teacher who was angered by their unruliness.)

Pelkäät, että jonakin kauniina päivänä uudelleen muuttaisin mieleni ?

Mustaherukan sato vaihtelee kuitenkin paljon alueittain.

(However, the crop of blackcurrant varies greatly from region to region.)

Joillakin paikoilla sato on hyvä.

(In some places the crop is good.)

Porkkanasta tulee keskimääräinen sato, ei mitään huippusatoa.

(The carrot becomes an average crop, but not a peak crop.)

Kunhan vain lämpöä riittää, niin sato on todella hyvä, niin kuin se on tänä vuonna.

(As long as there is enough heat, the crop is really good, as it is this year.)

Vadelmasato on tänä vuonna tavallista huonompi.

(The raspberry crop is worse than usual this year.)

Helteisyys on vähentänyt satomäärää entisestään.

(The heat has further reduced the crop.)

Sää on vaikuttanut omenasatoon.

(The weather has affected the apple crop.)

Näiden kasvisten sato on hyvä tänä vuonna!

(The crop of these vegetables is good this year!)

Looking through the plane glass window, It's an outside view

All that I am stuck with is this outside view

vintage circus card game from etsy

Flashcards are hot, hot, hot in the junkin' decorating world. The coolest ones feature vintage typefonts, and can cost $6 or more EACH. So as a cheap-thrifter, I didn't have any--until now!

Published by Rod and Staff, this 1985 flashcard set takes a wrathful approach to reading. The company is still in business and while they don't have a website, you can find their line of goods on the Anabaptist Bookstore website.

I found a huge stack of cards for words (Bible stories) and simple math, printed on manila card-stock at the Conroe, Texas, Salvation Army for $5.00.

It dawned on me after coming across words like "kill", "sin" and "sacrifice" that these weren't secular cards. Smite me.
