Superb Fairy-wren (Malurus cyaneus) female
This little lady posed nicely for me on this day two years ago.
A look into history in the Detmold Open Air Museum, Lippe, Germany.
The end of October is a perfect time to visit the Detmold Open Air Museum. The combination of Autumn light and season´s colours in combination with the old buildings create a story book atmosphere I adore. The place is a challenge for photography, mixed light conditions, twilight and shadows make it difficult to select the perfect pov´s and settings. We used Monday for an extended tour and enjoyed every moment.
The LWL-Freilichtmuseum in Detmold is a great place to learn and experience the world of our ancestors. The open-air-museum is covered with buildings, tools, animals and plants of countryside life in Northwest Germany in the last couple of centuries. An endless source of inspiration for HDR photography.
Windy weather conditions today here in Northwest Germany, I decided to stay inside and to look back five years when hiking along River Else. Kirchlengern, Ostwestfalen, Germany

Red-spotted Jezabel (Delias aganippe)
A couple of contacts have recently posted images of Jezabel Butterflies and that got me searching. It has been a while since I have seen one, I thought about 5 years, turns out it is nearly 8 years since I spotted this one on our Pittosporum Tree.
Whistling Kite (Haliastur sphenurus)
One from two years ago today. I haven't seen a Whistling Kite for ages so I though I would post this today.
A long abandoned farm that has somehow escaped the wrecking ball...for now.
Have a safe sliders sunday everyone!
Exactly one year ago was the first time I've ever photographed the Serin. Now, this year was no different. Same exact place, same time, same bird, only a different camera and a different level of expertise.
Black Kite (Milvus migrans)
One from this day last year. Still no time to get out even though it is a glorious Spring day here today.
Ever wondered what the grumpy Aristide might have looked like in his prime? We are proud to share this rare document, showing his pretty face before the years, and a few over-demanding ladies, took their toll, leaving him with the wrinkled scarred features that regularly appear on his photo stream. Already the consummate poser, he visibly saw himself as an urban dandy, carrying his rare Bowie vinyls from loft to squat. Asked to comment, a pretty source requiring to remain unnamed said "sure he used to be gorgeous, and so sexy, and, well, we can all see the damage, but, hey, he is like our best red wine, not that shabby a couple of decades down the road”.
Flashback - a vivid, spontaneous recollection of a past experience.
Every time as I look at traffic light streams, it resembled much flashback in memories toward many events and experience. Spontaneous, vivid, wonder and sorrow, all filled with colorful tones. Life is full of memories and dreams, with colors indeed….

A stormy day at Asakusa Tokyo. Such dramatic sky was just pure luck as a photographer enthusiast but not so much as a tourist since it started to pour not long after this shot :(.
It is NOT selective coloring, the sky just looked dark like that this day. This photo is a blend of 3 exposures, the sky is 10s to capture the cloud movement,
Happy weekend friends!
About this place:
Sensoji (浅草寺, Sensōji, also known as Asakusa Kannon Temple) is a Buddhist temple located in Asakusa. It is one of Tokyo's most colorful and popular temples.
The legend says that in the year 628, two brothers fished a statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy, out of the Sumida River, and even though they put the statue back into the river, it always returned to them. Consequently, Sensoji was built nearby for the goddess of Kannon. The temple was completed in 645, making it Tokyo's oldest temple.
When approaching the temple, visitors first enter through the Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate), the outer gate of Sensoji Temple and the symbol of Asakusa and the entire city of Tokyo.
A shopping street of over 200 meters, called Nakamise, leads from the outer gate to the temple's second gate, the Hozomon. Alongside typical Japanese souvenirs such as yukata and folding fans, various traditional local snacks from the Asakusa area are sold along the Nakamise. The shopping street has a history of several centuries.

When we apprehend God through the medium of concepts, we see Him as an object separate from ourselves, as a being from whom we are alienated, even though we believe that He loves us and that we love Him. In contemplation this division disappears, for contemplation goes beyond concepts and apprehends God not as a separate object but as the Reality within our own reality, the Being within our being, the life of our life...
… Contemplation is a mystery in which God reveals Himself to us as the very center of our own most intimate self—intimior intimo meo as St. Augustine said. When the realization of His presence bursts upon us, our own self disappears in Him and we pass mystically through the Red Sea of separation to lose ourselves (and thus find our true selves) in Him…
… All the powers of the soul reach out in freedom and knowledge and love, and all converge again, and all are gathered together in one supreme act which is radiant with peace.
-Thomas Merton, The New Man
What’s up guys? Not sure how you feel but I love photographing this kind of weather. Early spring storms and fogs are real fun and we are slowly approaching that season. This is one of those nights. What do you think?
Spotted Harrier (Circus assimilis)
A look back at this day lst year when this Spotted Harrier was around the Sneydes Rd. area. I saw it again this week but it was too far away for a usable shot.
Happy Wing Wednesday!
