As I walked by, I was struck by how this vertical line of hallway windows formed a column of light, shining out amid the darkness.

Too much orange ?
I heard last night that a good friend of mine has been moved to intensive care. He's been living with and fighting cancer for many years but has been particularly ill this last month.
My eyes are closed in this photo because I have been trying out the flash on my new camera. I was getting quite dazzled by the anti-redeye flickering at such close quarters so decided I'd close my eyes. I'm not keen on flash but this one seems to behave quite well - I may start using it more often.
I took this picture around 8:30 as it was starting to get dark. I used the archway to frame the intersection where I was able to get the cars moving. There was some glare from the light but overall I like this picture. I used a tripod to keep the camera still.

Il luogo del ricordo svanisce al primo istante del flash back,
superata la soglia della propria porta, quando mi accorgo

Il bianco apparire, nel rituale cammino quotidiano,
si colma di valori che vibrano colmando
ciò che appena rammento, dei segreti rifugiati tra l’asfalto,
gli amici incrociati, perduti o coltivati, i dolori spariti
e le gioie che di quando in quando tornano a sostenere inverni.
Così il luogo diviene nel ricordo,
poiché è la mia persona inesprimibile a dargli identità.
Se solo potessi
ne imprigionerei i resti sulle trame della tela.

Actually, there is nothing staged here, but I liked the atmosphere created by that bulb (at the entrance of Pennington Flash park) and the reflection of trees and I thought that it all looks like a theatre stage.
My wife and I had a relaxing twelve hours at this bed and breakfast east of Birmingham after my grandfather's funeral.
