DIY flash diffuser made from a country time lemonade canister and foam koozie. The whole setup cost under $4 after tax. In my opinion, aside from the purple koozie, this is one of the more professional looking diffusers I have seen. Michaels didn't have any black koozies, and my almost 2 year-old kept nagging me to get the purple one. I may make a trip out to Joannas to see if they have black, instead.

Self Portrait - Studio flash effects with a few cheap flashguns, aluminium foil and masking tape, blue glass and stuff. This was a lucky "lighting test" shot, I was setting up to take a picture of my pregnant partner.
KEY LIGHT - key light on my face is an old Sunpak with variable power positioned in front of me and to camera right of me on a shelf just above head height - masked or "snooted" with aluminium foil to keep the light focused the subject (ie me here).
KICKER LIGHT - The additional kicker light behind me is another flashgun of some kind, higher up still, again masked with aluminium foil, to the left and behind me, pointed down.
BACKDROP is a deep red wall, but lit in blue from below with a third low powered flashgun with a deep blue glass filter over it - this is positioned behind me low down.
I used 555 timer to power the inverter (via an N-channel FET), which worked and allowed me to charge the cap over 300v. The flash itself can be triggered by firing the SCR with an input pulse. It works well, except...
Note that the circuit is partially disassembled, the extra resistor was placed in to discharge C7.

Canon 5D Mark II, 24-105mm f/4.0L, flash
Met a couple of guys today for the first time with the intent of doing some proof of concept stuff at a pretty cool location. We came up with some interesting stuff but this was my personal favourite.
Strobist: 430EX, gelled with full CTO in an umbrella on camera right. Lighting the other side of the subject was a bare 580EX II (no gel). The highlight on the wall was from a handheld SB-800 (optically triggered). I can't quite remember the power on the flashes as we were adjusting on the fly. Canon flashes triggered with Cactus V4, post in Aperture 3.1.
Playing with off camera flash this morning, I caught this Anna's in the light. Both he and a male Costas have been vying for dominance over the feeder.
Memorial Auditorium in Gary, Indiana was originally built back in 1927 to honor the war dead of the city. This beautiful building was used to facilitate the local public school system's graduation ceremonies among many other social/political events.
During the late 90s Memorial Hall fell victim to an arsonist. The individual torched the structure among many others in the surrounding area. The result, about two thirds of the property went up in smoke.

Important Note : The crime scene tape laying on the floor in the yellow doorway was kind of unsettling to say the least.
Soooooooooooooooo....
Because of reasons, Trickster will be the main villain of my Flash story. So he will kinda fill the role of Professor Zoom.
I know some of you might not be happy about this, but don't worry Zoom will still be a recurring and important villain in my series.
Reasons you may ask?
Well the main one would be, I like jokes and writing sarcastic characters. (Main reason I don't try to write a Batman story. :P )
I mean I can write a serious character, and have and will continue to write serious characters. But because of my personality I find it more natural to write funny characters. :P
Reason number two, I just don't really like the whole idea of Zoom. I know he is a really important character in Flash's back-story and overall story, but he is kinda weird to me.
Hope you guys understand where I am coming from. :P
Plz dont hirt mi!
Parked just across the street! How lucky can you get?

Painted with flash. 30 second exposure at night which caused the sky to pick up the orange glow of the city. The willow tree and the flag at the top of the gazebo show how windy it was... And it was so cold...
Carnival is very popular in Germany. During the pandemic all the parades are cancelled again this year. The kids had one day in school yesterday to wear their costumes and Tim decided to be Darth Vaider. Unfortunately, it wasn’t allowed to take his lightsaber with him, weapons are not allowed in school ;-)

First attempts at an off camera flash portrait. Steep learning curve for this type of photography- one i am struggling with, i already see where i have gone wrong on this shot but it would be good to have feedback from fresh eyes so i can improve further.
Thanks.
Update 29.3.2010 To avoid confusion this is a portrait of my girlfriend Nia, not a self portrait :)
thanks for all the advice should have taken my relfector along to soften the shadows, guess i am just going for that off flash look, i did try and power down the flash but it must have reset once it went into a sleep mode, better luck next time.
The second Flash — Barry Allen — stored his costume inside a ring bearing his superheroic insignia.

in the friction, in a flash, when your eyes are glittering at the top of my thick cable thigh high socks, this is where I stand, this is when I take another step, give you permission to grab at my hips, to hold me steady while you work to make me lose my concentration.
