Anyone who knows me, knows I like taking photos of flags, esp. the US Flag. And I love taking photos of our public art - the bigger the better - trying to find a perspective that accentuates the piece, while giving it context without too much detraction from surroundings.
The new art piece on the side of the old Beloit Iron Works was something I had to try ASAP. This is my first attempt at taking photos of it. I can't really decide which one works the best so you get to see them all...
This is made from hardwood patterns used to cast paper machinery parts in the old Beloit Corp/Beloit Iron Works foundries. I machined a lot of parts made from some of these very patterns in the 21 years I worked as a machinist in this same building.
A day to celebrate and show respect for our flag.
...ok so this would be a lot more impressive if I had a photo of a bald eagle but a pelican was the only thing I could find to pose in front of the flag. :)
This flag is flown to honor those who perished in the attacks of 09/11/2001. It's also flown in honor of all those who serve our country every day, from firefighters to police officers, soldiers to marines and everyone in between.
Reflection of the flags in the pool in front of the Clinton Presidential Center, Charlie fired his Canon 580EX flash set to full power at the flags a few times during the exposure. Without that, they would've been lost in the water. And even with that, I'm not really that impressed with this shot.

After winning the 2014 USAG Vicenza Flag Football championship, A Co. 173rd BSB advanced and won the IMCOM Army Europe Unit Level Flag Football Championship, Oct. 31 – Nov.2 in Baumholder, Germany.
