Sculpture designed by Horace W. Peaslee, sculpted by Felix de Weldon, from the Pulitzer-Prize winning photo by Joseph Rosenthal. I loved the movie about the planting of the flag: (http://www.flagsofourfathers.com/) and so was keen to visit the Iwo Jima Marine Memorial in Arlington. The sun was against us, but I loved the movement of the flag, so took rather a lot of pictures.
These colourful flags reach to the top of the Buddhist Stupas. They contain Buddhist mantras as a prayer offering.

Memorial Day flag garden at Boston Common. Each year, 37,000 flags are planted to honor all the soldiers from Massachusetts who have given their lives since the Revolutionary War.
This set was taken at the Battleship TEXAS (USS Texas), a decommissioned WWI and WWII battleship which saw action in both the Pacific and Atlantic theaters of WWII. The ship itself is now located outside of Houston, TX.
