Not sure why but I never look up, at least when I'm indoors. This is the light fixture in the deli I go to. There is a whole row but I really like it. It's prettier in person

A Crigglestone All Blacks half-back grimaces with pain during a Division Four fixture against Odsal Sedbergh in amateur rugby league's Yorkshire League. Hosts Odsal, playing in the first half down Odsal Village Green's prodigious north-south slope, led 22-0 after 29 minutes. Torrential rain and high wind, which had eased before kick-off, then returned, affecting adversely the quality of the rugby. Three players, two from Odsal, visited the sin bin during an ill-tempered second half. Odsal ran in seven tries and kicked four conversions as they recorded a third league victory of 2019. Defeat in a third-bottom versus bottom clash leaves Crigg without a win in any of the nine league games they have played this season.

No gradient filters. I mainly just used VSCO Film 02's Fuji Neopan 1600 (my favorite B/W film filter) which upped the grain and contrast a bit. It's very monolithic looking, and the relatively lazy shutter speed adds a fleeting blur to the figures passing by. I like this photo.

January 26, 2020 - Guided tour of the Teatro Colón

"The tour takes in the following rooms: Foyer, Bustos Gallery, Golden Hall and Main Hall (the circuit may be affected due to live performances, rehearsals, repairs, special events or other common activities of the Theater without this supposes return.

Foyer: important double-height entrance hall dominated by an honor staircase with marbles of different colors and crowned by French stained glass.

Golden Hall: richly decorated according to French style, it is a permanent center for concert chamber music, conferences and parallel exhibitions to the activity of the Main hall.

Main Hall: The most important hall in the country, famous throughout the world for its acoustics and decorative richness. The most relevant personalities of lyric, ballet and music have passed through its stage." Previous text from: teatrocolon.org.ar/en/visit-us/guided-tours

"The Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires city is considered one of the best theaters in the world. Recognized for its acoustics and for the artistic value of its construction, its current building turned 100 years old in 2008. Located between the streets of Cerrito, Viamonte, Tucumán and Libertad, in the heart of the city of Buenos Aires, it was inaugurated on May 25, 1908 with the opera Aida by Giuseppe Verdi.

This building replaces the old Teatro Colón built in front of the Plaza de Mayo where today stands the Banco Nación. The construction of the new building took around 20 years, its foundation stone was placed on May 25, 1890, with the intention of inaugurating it before October 12, 1892 coinciding with the fourth centenary of the discovery of America. The initial project belonged to the architect Francesco Tamburini and, upon his death in 1891, it was continued and modified by his partner, the architect Víctor Meano, author of the palace of the National Congress. The works advanced until 1894, but then stagnated for financial reasons. In 1904, after the death of Meano, the government commissioned the Belgian Jules Dormal to complete the work. Dormal introduced some structural modifications and definitely left his stamp on the French style decoration.

At the end of 1907, the first lease of the Teatro Colón was signed, although the works of completion of the building were delayed in relation to the date set for the inauguration of the hall, on May 25, 1908. In any case, in that date was the first opera performed in the main hall of the Theater by the Great Italian Lyric Company, although with some unfinished spaces of the building such as the Golden Hall and the iron canopies on Libertad and Cerrito streets." Nice group of pink details for your next vintage bathroom restoration project. In a thrift store in Kansas City - Flickrmail me if you need to know where. Appears that the word is out - Pink Bathrooms are COOL as evidenced by the price. At least they took the time to save them and that is what is important!

Of course I forgot to take a picture of the back (we were leaving), but can tell you they were not Pomona, and started with an "M" - monitor or something?

A fantastic light fixture at Rick's Place at the Figueroa Hotel.

The previous owners had replaced the original knobs and pulls with some horrible chrome 1950s or 60s things. 18 years after buying the house, I finally replaced them. Much better!

One of two absolutely exceptional retro light fixtures in the Persian room. I'm told the colored lights flashed to the beat of music. I'd so put this in my living room.

Those are rejected parts from the fork fixtures that I made a few years ago.

A lighting fixture in the enterence lobby of the Borgata Casino and Hotel in Atlantic City

Ugh. My Nikon F3 is goddamn cursed. Almost every time I shoot with it, I fuck something up.

Today's fuckup was with the AI metering tab, which I forgot to flip back down when using an AI lens. So about a third of my roll of film didn't get metered properly.

Saw these Kee Klamp fitting retail structures while shopping in Reebok in Tulsa, OK

Okay, the deal with this is, if I wanted to take pictures, I had to be in them... so I tried to get around this in a variety of creative ways. Forgive the thumbs and feet.

Looking up at a light fixture. There are about four or five different design styles in this theatre... maybe more.

The Keith Albee Theatre was built in 1927-1928 and designed by famed theatre architect, Thomas W. Lamb. It has several sister theatres across the country. The supervising architect was Wilbur A. Meanor. It is on the National Register as part of the downtown historic district.

The Keith Albee is an atmospheric theatre, meaning it's ceiling can imitate the sky and gives the illusion of being outdoors. It's truly a wonderful effect. The theatre is purely magnificent, in good repair, and is the process of full restoration. It was part of the Orpheum circuit.

If you ever have the chance to visit this masterpiece, I highly suggest you do so. As flamboyant as the exterior is, it doesn't give you an inkling of the fabulousness that hides quietly within.

My parents are awesome and finagled us a private tour of the theatre, basically anywhere I wanted to go.

However, when I got there, they told me I couldn't take pictures of the building unless I was in them, because they had a problem with someone who took pictures and sold them on the internet, and didn't give any money to the theatre... so now nobody is allowed to take pictures without a contract, unless they are in the pictures.

This is weird, because when my mom went to see the show, she asked if she could take pictures of the theatre, and they told her it was fine. So, out of respect, if I decide to post those pictures she took, they will be at very tiny resolution so they may not be sold.

Bangor bash Barban boys

by Roger Corbett

On a perfect afternoon for rugby, Bangor maintained their good winning streak by recording another bonus point victory against Dromore, eventually winning by 38-17.

With Bangor and Dromore looking secure in 3rd and 4th places respectively in the league, this game could have been viewed as a dead fixture. However, with Dromore no doubt wanting to reverse their earlier defeat, and Bangor wanting to maximise their points tally, the game was certainly competitive.

Bangor got proceedings underway, playing into a slight breeze that was blowing diagonally across the pitch. From the outset, Dromore used this slight advantage to gain good ground through well taken positional kicks. However, were equally happy to run the ball back and produced several good attacks in reply. In fact the home side could have been a couple of scores up in the first quarter, but the ball didn’t run for them at the crucial moments. However, the breakthrough eventually came when the handling across the backs was crisp and secure, giving Neil Cuthbertson on the right wing the opportunity to stretch his legs and dive over in the corner for a well-taken try. The difficult kick was missed, but the scoreboard had started in Bangor’s favour by 5-0.

The next twenty minutes were almost a copy of the first quarter, with Bangor making most of the attacking opportunities, only to be thwarted by a stubborn Dromore defence. For Dromore’s part, they also had their chances, and came close from a kick through that Cuthbertson managed to shepherd into the goal area and get the resulting twenty two drop-out. However, a slack response by Bangor handed the initiative back to Dromore who, after several surges, managed to push over for their first try in the right hand corner, levelling the scores at 5-5 with just a minute or two left in the first half.

Bangor’s reply from the restart was immediate and in complete contrast to how they approached the previous drop-out. Mark Thompson’s kick hung in the breeze, allowing Jamie Clegg to leap for it and continue running at the static Dromore defence. He then passed inside to Jason Morgan who then passed again to Mike Weir at outside centre. Although Weir had the option of Cuthbertson on the wing, he fooled the Dromore defence and made a charge for the line, just managing to squeeze over in the right hand corner. The conversion was missed, making the score 10-5.

With 2 minutes of stoppage time having elapsed, there was just enough time for Dromore to restart once more. However, another apparent lapse in concentration by Bangor in securing and then clearing the ball, allowed Dromore to come straight back and score an opportunist try in the corner and level the points at 10-10. As the referee blew for half time, the home supporters were stunned, feeling their side should have been well in front by this time.

As the teams turned around, Bangor produced their now familiar second half surge. Within 5 minutes, a good break by James Henly was stopped just inside the Dromore twenty two. Although the ball went to ground, good support play by Curtis Stewart saw him pick up and run through to score under the posts. Cuthbertson’s kick was good, and Bangor were back in front by 17-10.

An injury to full back Chris Morgan resulted in changes to both the forward and backs line-up, with Adam Rushe coming off the bench to take James Henly’s wing forward position, allowing Henly to move to outside centre, and moving Mike Weir to full back as a result. There followed a brief period of settling to this new structure, before Bangor struck again. Seeing a flat Dromore defence ahead of him, Jason Morgan chipped over their heads and began the chase for the line. The ball bounced favourably for him, and he just managed to gather and touch down ahead of the nearest defender. The kick was successful extending the lead to 24-10, and now with the additional bonus point.

Although Dromore maintained their own pressure, it was Bangor who were calling most of the shots. Just 7 minutes later, the ball went wide to Mark Widdowson on the left wing whose pace and footwork left several Dromore players floundering, before darting through to score under the posts. The addition of the simple conversion brought the score to 31-10.

With only 5 minutes remaining, Dromore produced a late push and brought play deep into Bangor’s twenty two. Although Dromore won their scrum close to Bangor’s line, it looked like Bangor had the attack covered. However a defensive mix-up left a gap that provided a simple run through for Dromore to score beside the posts. With the successful conversion, the gap had closed to 31-17.

Obviously annoyed by this mistake, Bangor came back at Dromore, forcing the visitors to concede a penalty inside their twenty two. Spurning the kick at goal, Thompson kicked for touch and an attacking line-out. With the ball safely won, Bangor started to drive forward, but the strong Dromore pack held it up. However, the ball was quickly recycled by Ricky Armstrong to Mark Thompson, who then passed to Jason Morgan who pushed off his tackler to score the final try of the day and, with the conversion, bring the final score to 38-17.

This was a good day for North Down sides playing Mid Down opposition. Bangor’s success against Dromore was matched by neighbours Donaghadee who produced an inspired performance to beat Ballynahinch 2nds and earn a place in this year’s Towns Cup final as a result – congratulations to all.

Bangor’s final fixture in this year’s league is away to Cooke next Saturday. The weekend is then topped off on Sunday afternoon with what should be a highly entertaining game between the Perennials and a Bangor Select XV. With several familiar faces from seasons past, this is sure to be a fun event, and one to come along and enjoy.

I've been kinda obsessed with light fixture's lately, not really sure why. They are a source, a conduit, a way in maybe. Ok, there's a reason I don't do descriptions much. Anyways for these I had to stand on my bathroom sink if you can imagine, and crane my neck against the ceiling to shoot down into the fixture.

An exposed light fixture at a friend's apartment.

Using an old hacksaw blade an a couple of clamps to position the backstop at the right angle...which is about 78º in this case. I like to point the top of the backstop at the center of the stem's handlebar clamp.
