Here's my foot after the doctore fixed it. He's holding up the back drop for me :)

Late summer 2010 I started collecting parts for a fixed gear bike, and finally it's finished. I painted the frameset white and black; the rest of the parts have been left in their original color.

Some provincial reflection to mark our 2019 elections!

Part of the Island’s terms and conditions for joining Confederation in 1873 was with the understanding the federal government would establish and maintain services to provide mail and passenger access to the province year round. For many years these services were provided by ferries which, over time, became expensive to upkeep and were often unable to break through the Northumberland Strait’s ice in winter.

After the construction of Cape Breton’s Canso Causeway in 1957, discussion began in earnest of a more permanent, fixed link for PEI. Opposition to the bridge felt that a connection would in many ways compromise the Island way of life and cause job loss from the ferries. Support for the bridge argued that it would allow reliable travel to the mainland as well as a more cost efficient way to deliver products to and from the Island.

A referendum held by Premier Joe Ghiz during the 1988 resulted with 59.5% of Island votes in support of a bridge.

Construction began in 1993 and was completed in 1997. Although the Confederation bridge undoubtedly brought change (and canned pop) to PEI the result there is no doubt the increase in accessibility to both Islanders and tourists to and from the mainland. Vehicle traffic related to visiting tourists increased by 34% in 1997 compared to 1996 with visitor expenditures increasing by 63% for a total of $245.9 million in 1997.

Winter, ice and road salt are but distant memories.

A glorious day so I took the more scenic route home from work. This is the Black Cart Water, by the back of Renfrew Golf Course on my fixed gear bike.
