We bought some beautiful light fittings for our kitchen. They are simple glass pendant shades but, in contrast with their apparent simplicity, fitting them is a complex task involving Herculean effort of will, tall stepladders, strong arms and much luck. Try as we might, we couldn't get them to hang straight, so I made a small complaint to John Lewis, who were equally perplexed and not uncross on our behalf. A couple of weeks later these brackets arrived in the post, which we think will hold the shade straight. Fingers crossed.
