The interplay of light and shadow in the ticket hall of Nottingham Station.
Nottingham station, formerly "Nottingham Midland" was mostly built in 1904 (though some sections are older, dating from 1848) in an Edwardian Baroque Revival style using red brick, terracotta and slate, at a total cost of £1m (close to £100m today). This rebuild relocated the station entrance from Station Street (which runs alongside the length of the station) to Carrington Street, where the clock tower resides. The building was designed by Albert Edward Lambert, a prolific local architect who was also designed the shorter-lived Nottingham Victoria station (1900-1967 serving the then Sheffield to London route). Today the station serves as a hub, with routes to Sheffield, Derby, Manchester, Liverpool, Cardiff, Leeds, Leicester, Peterborough, Birmingham and London, as well as connecting withe the city's tram lines, and many bus routes.
Taken with a Nikon D40, fitted with a Nikkor AFS DX 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6G II lens, and processed in GIMP and Photoscape.

The means by which I tend to fit clothing involves putting muslin on a person and cutting away everything that isn't the finished garment. The muslin is then cut into pattern pieces for the project fabric.
This is the toile (mock-up) for my red cotehardie. My friend Kasia kindly helped me fit it.

Wanneer de JT42CWR tot je favoriete locomotief behoort is het streven dan ook ze in zoveel mogelijk varianten vast te leggen en bewonderen. Hoewel ik de versie van Euro Cargo Rail al diverse malen voor de lens kreeg gebeurde dat nooit eerder bij de juiste zonstand met uitzondering van de keer dat ik ze gloednieuw bij Nedtrain in Tilburg kon fotograferen. Door herhaaldelijk vol te houden op een traject waar ze vrijwel dagelijks rijden wilde het ditmaal wél lukken!
Natuurlijk zullen velen van jullie nu denken waarom ik deze loc niet gewoon beschrijf als Class 66 waarbij ik moet verduidelijken dat die benaming eigenlijk helemaal niets te maken heeft met het type locomotief. Immers kennen we ze ook als Baureihe 266, 247 of Class 77. Al deze benoemingen echter zijn niets meer dan verwijzende naar de nummering van de locomotieven in verschillende landen. De officiële type-aanduiding voor deze krachtpatsers is JT42CWR.
In dit geval zien we de 247 029 voorzien van een bescheiden DB logo op de fronten als tractie voor een sleep met buizen beladen rongenwagens ter hoogte van Ratingen/Lintorf passeren onderweg zijnde van Oberhausen Osterfeld Süd naar Dusseldorf Rath. Amper een uurtje later zou de loc alweer los terugkeren en werd daarbij uiteraard nog even doel van een close upje.
De in 2008 door het Canadese Electro-Motive-Diesel gebouwde 247 029 kunnen we overigens ook identificeren als 266 429 en onder het volledige UIC nummer 92 80 1266 429-0 D-DB. Helaas is deze machine niet op Nederlandse bodem te zien en beperkt zijn toelating zich tot België, Duitsland en Frankrijk.

DB Cargo (former Euro Cargo Rail) 247 029 could also be identified as 266 429 or full UIC number 92 80 1266 429-0 D-DB as it's seen working a loaded pipes train from Oberhausen Osterfeld Süd to Dusseldorf Rath while passing near Ratingen/Lintorf, Germany.
Unfortunately those nice looking sheds can't be seen in the Netherlands as they have licenses to operate in Belgium, France and Germany only. Since 2013 Euro Cargo Rail is a full part of DB Cargo being the owner of these locomotives still fitted in ECR livery with a small DB logo up front on just a few of them.

This is the Balda Baldina 35 mm folding camera made from 1935 to ca. 1941. The Dresden-made camera has a strong resemblance to the Welta Welti of the same year and the original Kodak Retina type 117 introduced in 1934.
It had several different lenses during the production run. My copy is fitted with a Schneider Xenar f2.9/5cm and a Compur-Rapid shutter with the fastest setting at 1/500.

Post privatisation but still in Network SouthEast livery Railtrack Plc owned Sandite/De-Icing unit 930 007 is seen waiting at Hastings to form sandite train 8Z42 13.20 to Tonbridge.
This departmental unit was one of the batch authorised for conversion at Selhurst Depot between 1977-82 from redundant 4-SUB (class 405) motor coaches. Set 007 was formed of ADB975592 (ex S10993 from set 4127) and ADB 975593 (ex S12659 from set 4604). The no.1 end ADB 975592 was the De-icing vehicle fitted with polythene lined steel tanks to prevent the tanks becoming live when de-icing fluid was being released onto the conductor rail. The no.2 coach ADB 975593 was initially empty on conversion but subsequently modified and fitted with hopper vats to carry Laponite solution (commonly known as Sandite). When laying sandite the train would be restricted to 20mph hence the class 8 headcode where as de-icer could be laid at 45mph. The units were fitted with extra shoe gear to create better contact in icy conditions and two shoes, one either side were fitted with air operated vibrating pins to dislodge any formed ice on the conductor rail rather than just frost or snow. Formed ice blobs could be a problem under overhanging structures like bridges where water could drip and freeze creating a lump on the conductor rail.
Large logo grid 56098 passes Elmton & Creswell Jn 'box with 5Q68 1054 Worksop to Derby Litchurch Lane. 387101 was the unit being dragged, I believe this has had some new equipment fitted for the signalling upgrades happening on the south end of the ECML. 13th April 2023.
A main store release. Fitted for Maitreya, Freya, HG, Isis, and Physique. 8 separately sold colours with 4 patterns per colour.
Originally fitted with a 2.0 litre engine this is now powered by a straight six 3.0 litre engine as used in an Opel Senator mated to a Getrag gearbox. This is simply superb.

Shofuso Japanese House and gardens were built in 1958 in 16th century style. It is located on the grounds of the Horticultural Center in the West Philadelphia section of Fairmount Park. The perfectly proportioned architecture of the main structure and adjoining tea house is enhanced by an ornamental garden and picturesque pond. Tours of the house are available and periodically there are special events offered including tea ceremonies, bonsai plant showings and more. Finding a cultural nugget like this so close to the city of Philadelphia is very unique and special and definitely needs to be checked out if you are looking for something a little different.

Fuji Acros 100 film shot at ISO 100.
Semi-stand development using Kodak HC-110 1+100 dilution for 1 hour with 30 seconds initial agitation with swizzle stick and three turns @ 30 minute mark. Paterson 3 reel tank.
Negative scanned with Epson 4990 on holders fitted with ANR glass.
