We headed further South and on to Penzance for an evening session with all the Cornwall lads. Si and Matthew Brown were destroying the awkward bank ledge in the middle of the park. As soon as the Allyoop Fishbrain's can out I knew I had to get a shot of one. We celebrated what was a great session with fish and chips and a beer.

We then moved over to the first rail we laid on eyes on in the estate of which was an epic drop rail. It didn't take Alex too long to bosh out a perfect Fishbrain for both me and Mark to document. He then laced the sickest Soyal full revert out to finish the evening shoot off perfectly.

Another day, another Cambridge skate this time at Coldhams lane mini. Everyone was having fun and killing it but after a while i fancied shooting a trick so out came the glasses found on route, out came the dirtbox beanie and out came the steezy fishbrains. Lit up with my Canon 540EZ Speedlite at 1/4 the power on a tripod to the top left of the shot with Blazzeo recievers, set off with a Blazzeo Transmitter
Second keeper from that day came in the shape of a really steezy low rocket fishbrain in the big bowl. Shot with my Sigma 18-55mm lense and lit with two Canon 540EZ's that were on opposit sides of the bowl from Dan with diffusers and both set at 1/4 the power
After navigating our way around the park for an hour or so we came across the ledge complex, some concepts were thrown around, and after some gentle persuasion Dan started to try rolling up the wall to a front unity on the top of the ledge. A few attempts later, a random flail of his body had us both wondering if the trick he said he only could lace in his Remz (due to the flex) was now on the table in Valos. And then, bam! Two or three really close attempts amidst a number of tries lead to the trick being laced so perfectly that we both knew it was even better than the first time. I shot it with my Nikon D50 and Nikkor 50mm lens, using Cyber Syncs to set off two Canon 540EZs, with one to the right at full power and one to the left at half power. This trick in all its ridiculous beauty can be seen here in this wonderfully produced edit by the very tallented Mr. Reavley.

On Saturday me and Adam mad our way down to Essex to meet up with the rest of the boys for the start of a weekend of hanging out, skating and clip hunting. The weather was terrible in Chelmsford so we headed down towards the sunnier destination of Southend. Unfortunately nothing was really achieved and it was looking some what like a wasted trip, that was until Reg took us to a rusty, bent, white barrier and smashed out this Fishbrain.

I took this shot of Kai while we were skating a miniramp in Liechtenstein. What I like most about this shot are his colored pants and the amazing background eventhoug it is a bit dark...
It was used in Be-mag.com's Global Connections section on 18/11/08.

Aside from writing, Billy Clarke (Instagram:@rollhk) [1] also does aggressive inline skating with a bunch of other street kids in Hong Kong.
I did not know that rollerblading has its own lingo until now. This particular move here is called “Alley-oop Fishbrain”. According to a rollerblading glossary [2], “Alley-oop” is a move where you turn one way while rotating (to land the grind) another, where as “Fishbrain” is a topside makio grind named by Aussie skater Tom Fry. Definitely will need an illustrated guide.

I was not really prepared for this shoot—it was ad hoc and out of the blue. It was also midnight, so there was only so much I could do. This is a good example of strobist in action though — just plop the 580EX closed to the subject and boom there’s light. Billy is not too happy with it showcasing his rear but technically speaking that _is_ where the action is at…
I have asked him to invite me when there is actually light next time. Seriously.

SB600 on full camera left with GREEN gel and SB600 camera right behind at 1/4.
I had tried shooting this without the gel and to me the photo was just missing something. I tried adjusting the flashes, placement, angles but it was still just kind of boring. I tried a couple different colors but I felt the green worked best. I was hesitant to use a gel at first but once I tried the green I felt it really worked. Not too intense, not too soft. I also tried to make sure he wasn't fully saturated by it either and putting more emphasis on the wall by placing the gelled strobe just a step behind him, about two feet, and then moved the bare strobe to my right in about 3 feet.

Rob Taylor was smashing the park to bits which was a pleasure to see. So before we all decided we had enough of this park I grabbed Rob and asked him to do a nice Back Royal up the corner that swept up from the bottom of the bowl. He was game but decided he could definitely could do something better. After a bit of a battle with this awkward part of the park Rob came through with a perfect Ally-oop Fisbrain down.

Another weekend, another day at RWH in Offord, the rain eased off just long enough to dry up and give us the chance to skate before getting booted off by the slightly enraged owner. But before that happened Noog powered through with this Textbook Fishbrain. Shot with my Sigma 10mm fisheye and lit up my Canon540EZ at 1/2 the power and off to the right of the shot on a tripod, and my Vivitar 285HV Zoom Thyristor held just above and to the left of my camera at Noog as to get some fill. Flashes set off using my Balzzeo receivers and trigger....

One AlienBee B800 to the right at the bottom of the stairs
One YN-560 II to the left at the bottom of the stairs.
As the warm up continued an array of tricks got laced, each more technical than the last. It was this Christ fishbrain that caught my attention and with the first real go at it I began to set up for the winning shot at this spot.

After what could only be described as a mission of trip to London on the sat, me adam and noog decided something closer to home would be better so we headed into Cambridge on the Sunday. After what seemed like quite a full day of skating we finshed the day off at the Arbury industrail, at this point no body was really up for skating but i still manged to get Adam to lace a fishbrain to fishbrain. Lit with my Canon 540EZ Speedlite at 1/4 the power with Blazzeo recievers, set off with a Blazzeo Transmitter to the left of the shot.
