It was one of the first Sundays in weeks that hadn't produced overcast or rainy. We recently had 3 straight soggy Sundays in a row. For Los Angeles, a month of this kind of weather is an eternity. So with the weather clear, I met up with the usual suspects (Jeremy, Abel, Cydney, Steve Cortez) and one not so usual, Danny Rosado.
I get to blade with Danny every so often, but every time he leaves me dumbfounded. On this occasion we ended up at a school I had found on one of my late night detour trips home looking for spots. Turns out it had been in a Xsjado edit recently. The tip off was running into JC, Stockwell, Farmer, and Garlinghouse turning the corner. They ended up hopping inside the school to film while we stayed on the outside.
The rail is steeper than it looked at first glance, which lead to some interesting tricks. Danny decided on an out of the blue line - fishbrain the ledge at the top of the stairs and switch crossgrab fishbrain the wall rail. He landed it second try, but luckily for me he agreed to try it again for the camera. During one of the attempts school police came by and kicked us out, but not before telling us they were there because they got a call about musicians hopping into the school with their instruments, thinking there was a party going on inside. Canon 7D, Canon 28-70mm, 1/200, f/5, iso 160. 1 sb-24 high and behind Danny, 1 580ex high right of Danny on a grid.

With the Backfastslide in the bag Dan started to experiment with switches and came out with this crazy extended rocket fish. Lit with two Canon 540EZ's both off to my left with diffusers and captured with my Sigma 10mm fisheye lense

Dan pushed through the hurt to get this cheeky little number done. After sitting out most of the session with a crooked neck he couldn't so no to the flash of inspiration that led to this.

With just enough time to fit in one more cheeky shoot I could help but get myself up to Manchester to meet up with Elliot. Once we hooked up in town and after grabbing some grub we headed out to a housing estate just out of town. The location was a good shout as there was a few really great spots. This short triple kink was the obvious first choice and we were educated upon its history by the fella at number 46. Only one person on a bike had done it all it way according to him. Elliot came through with a Topsoul followed by a sick Fishbrain to become the second person to conquer this beast. This delighted Elliot's own personal cheer leading squad that was made up of a selection of the estates cheekiest twelve to fourteen year olds.

Los Angeles, CA. I was enlisted to work with ONE Magazine to shoot Montre, who they were flying out to LA to shoot 7 days with him. Wes Driver was the main photographer (and the magazine's art director), capturing it in medium format film, while I shot Montre in digital. The photo was featured in print issue #21 as part of an ad for the 7 day VOD section going up soon.
On a dull but dry Tuesday me and Dan hooked up for the second shoot for his Wheel Scene profile. We headed straight into central to what was the freshest and most interesting spot of all of his spots selected. We both had a bad feeling that it could be a bust but Twenty minutes after getting there this snap of Dan lacing a perfect Fishbrain around the ledge was captured. A perfect start to the days shooting..

What started as a planned one day trip up to Macclesfield developed into me staying for four, as per-bloody usual. Me and Kate headed out for a evening session on the thursday at the very cool Westfield park. Kate insisted it was shit, then we had a awesome session as she laced countless new tricks on both the Grind box and mini. I managed to capture her lacing this sweet Fishbrain on the mini and although the flash I had set up on the left didn't fire I quite like the outcome.

Its not everyday you stumble across an abandoned property..that has an empty pool in the backyard...
This was a post-ARO session on the Sunday.
Used as picture of the week on Be-mag.com!
We found this abandoned factory building in Switzerland. To take a good shot we had to carry up the wood and the rail to the second floor because the groundfloor was covered with water. At least it was worth the work and we got some nice shots including this True Fishbrain.
Strobist: One Canon Speedlitze 540ez left farther behind the skater and one left in front of the skater. A AB800 to light the spot. Triggered with Cyber Sync gear.
