The 23rd Airbus A350-900 for Iberia completed its maiden test flight earlier today.

The aircraft departed at 11:47 AM CET for a functional check flight lasting over three hours, before returning and landing at 3:10 PM CET.

During the final phase of the flight, the crew executed a go-around, followed by a successful landing on the second approach. Notably, the landing was performed with the deployment of the Ram Air Turbine (RAT) — a backup system designed to provide emergency hydraulic and electrical power in the event of a loss of power from the main engines or onboard generators.

Wright Brothers National Memorial, Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, September 26, 2018, 3:20pm: Wright Brothers Memorial: This is the north side of the memorial. The hill is where the Brothers tested their models and gliders during their research to develop their flying machine. This side of the memorial faces the work area and where they made their successful flights.

Horrible photo but want to keep track of her developmental stages.

She is taking short flights now, landing on a favorite snag used at various times by parent and chicks alike.

Wright Brothers National Memorial, Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, September 26, 2018, 2:52pm: Wright Brothers landing field: This is the view from the north side of the Wright Brothers Memorial. The two wood buildings in the center are replicas of the hangar and living quarters of Orville and Wilber Wright while they in Kill Devil Hills working on their flying machine. Just to the left are markers showing the lengths of the four flights taken on December 17, 1903, when they made their successful flights. To the right is the Memorial visitor center. In the background are the town of Kill Devil Hills and the Atlantic Ocean.

Since it came out at midnight and I was still waiting for my laundry to finish, I scooted out to the Capitalist Death Machine to snag my copy of Green Lantern: First Flight. All things told, it's pretty good. I did like how Hal was portrayed in the previously released New Frontier movie better, but this release did have a larger scope, taking the concept of Lanterns as intergalactic cops and turning Hal's origin tale into something more resembling the film Training Day. And I've gotta say, Sinestro's voice was pretty much spot-on.
