Well, these are the results of firework night with my new Hitachi! I am very pleased with the new camera, though much to still get used to! There is a firework setting which I used for these, but the captures were not what I was expecting. They have, however, given some abstract works of color!!

Fireworks are called "flowers of fire" in Japanese. This one resembles flower a bit, isn't it?

Because of a bad weather forecast we watched the New Years firework from our balcony, Not the best location but good enough to try.

The finale of the firework display at the sea front in Cleethorpes. Brilliant blue and white explosions brought the magnificent display to a close. For a moment or two, night became day as the rockets lit the evening sky for a few spectacular seconds.

Firework taken with a Nikon D90 18-105 VR lens

I read an article I found on Flipboard the other day, which shared a technique for capturing fireworks in a different way. In a nutshell, it was to manually transition from in-focus to out-of-focus (or vise versa) while the shutter was open. It took a while to figure out and get the timing right, but I think it was worth the hassle. The results are pretty neat & interesting, and quite different. I couldn't decide on a favourite to post, so I created a simple collage of all the ones I liked.
