Firework Night at St. Peter's Church, Farnborough, Hampshire.

I read an article I found on Flipboard the other day, which shared a technique for capturing fireworks in a different way. In a nutshell, it was to manually transition from in-focus to out-of-focus (or vise versa) while the shutter was open. It took a while to figure out and get the timing right, but I think it was worth the hassle. The results are pretty neat & interesting, and quite different. I couldn't decide on a favourite to post, so I created a simple collage of all the ones I liked.

Well, these are the results of firework night with my new Hitachi! I am very pleased with the new camera, though much to still get used to! There is a firework setting which I used for these, but the captures were not what I was expecting. They have, however, given some abstract works of color!!
I thought about doing a review of some of my best shots from 2014 to close out the year, but instead opted for a shot I made of the fireworks show at Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque in October. Nothing beats closing out the year with some fireworks, even if it's just a photo. We had heard they had a great nightly fireworks display at Balloon Fiesta and we were not disappointed. If you ever have the chance to go to Balloon Fiesta, the fireworks are definitely worth sticking around for.
Some of the fireworks just after 10pm on 28th June 2014 for the culmination of a days events to celebrate Armed Forces Day 2014. These fireworks were on the sea front at Cleethorpes in north eastern Lincolnshire
