TLDR: super-detailed fully-modular Creator-scale build of epic early-90s Ferrari race-car version of street car version of a race car.

The F40 LM is the race car version of what was already mostly a race car. Nineteen competition-ready F40's were built by Chinetti Michelotto for Ferrari; lighter, lower, more powerful and full of racing-specific tweaks.

This project builds an LM within the outlines of the TLG 10248 model. The kit's brilliant overall shaping and clever build solutions provide a framework for revised proportions and deeper detailing. Nearly every step of the build is altered and most assemblies have been heavily redesigned.

The lengthened doors and repositioned fuel-tank pods were informed by Brickmonkey's modified build. The gray interior firewall was removed entirely, allowing the seats to be extended back along with the stretched doors.

Custom stickers were created for the Braille battery, Magneti Marelli digital dashboard, and labels on the master cylinder fluid reservoirs.

We had a bunch of people get together last night and do some light painting / other random things. For this photo, 6 of us lined up and tried to stay as still as possible for a 30 second exposure while another kid spun the steel wool in the background, creating a field of light to silhouette us. I thought it turned out great!

First attempt using the firewall technique

Still playing around with the back end. Tried to make the stabilisers less boxy.

Also redesigned the cockpit with an extra trans-clear plate.

made by 'soekris engineering' in santa cruz, ca. about an hour's drive from me. I bought this unit in person ;)

it runs 'monowall' which is a free opensource firewall for small and embedded systems.

this unit is soekris model 'net5501'. it has 4 10/100 VIA eithernet chips, a serial port for initial config and boots by compact flash (a throw-away 8mb CF card from an old camera!)

runs FreeBSD 4.11 and is managed almost entirely via the embedded web GUI on the device.

the device is fanless and when booted from compact flash has no moving parts. power is via a 'wall wart' similar to what a calculator might use ;)

photo info: panasonic L1 dslr on a tripod and using self-timer (reduce shake). harsh lighting was unfortunately used as I didn't have diffusers large enough for this size of object. shot in jpg mode and a moderate amount of post-processing was done (sharpening, highlight/shadow, cropping).

probably the most amazing firewall in Berlin. @ least my fave. Consider that you are quite in the center of the city.

the fully panorama.

20 years ago the situation was already similar, just left to the house was another one in- standing in 90 degrees to this one.

i am curious how long this house is already standing like this (including his lost partner) and how long this house still has to be alone or to die...........

Not the best point of view but the important thing to me was how to handle the fire ....

So this was just a "quick" test, to see how it might work (note to the photog - change ISO to 100 next time!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Mark is spinning burning wire wool from a bulldog clip on a chain. The sparks are flying and filling the small underpass beneath the Haversham Road. The recent rains have flooded the underpass which gave an unexpected benefit - reflections!
